As a seasoned fan of period dramas and someone who has spent countless hours immersing myself in the world of Regency England through various shows, I must say that my recent experience at the Detroit Bridgerton Themed Ball left me feeling anything but regal.
As a gaming enthusiast hailing from Detroit, Michigan, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Bridgerton Season 4 on Netflix. On Sunday, my craving for a regency fantasy took me to “The Detroit Bridgerton Themed Ball.” The event promised an enchanting evening, inviting us to don costumes reminiscent of the Bridgerton cast in shimmering ball gowns.
Recently, there’s been another unfortunate incident involving an immersive Bridgerton experience in Detroit that has left many attendees disappointed. As one user described it on TikTok, this event didn’t quite live up to expectations, with some even going so far as to compare it to a “lab experiment gone wrong.” It seems that the organizer’s attempt at replicating the charm of the popular series fell short, leaving guests feeling less than satisfied.

In the TikTok video shared by the user and her companion, it’s clear they didn’t anticipate the letdown at the expensive gathering. According to The Guardian, attendees forked out anywhere from $150 to a staggering $1000 for an event that saw many people departing just an hour into it. The reason? It seemed that the food was undercooked, the decorations were lackluster, and the entertainment consisted of only one pole dancer in the center of the hall.
User @rayleearts delved into details about the event in a Twitter thread, criticizing Uncle & Me LLC, the company organizing it. On the Detroit Bridgerton website, the event was advertised as offering a “play/performance,” “music/entertainment,” a DJ and performers, bar access for those 21 and older, and a chance to win $2,000 for best dressed attire. However, it seems that the cash prize for best dressed didn’t materialize! Here are some pictures from the event:
It turned out that fans were quite displeased since only a solo violinist provided the music for the event, which seemed rather unimpressive given its high cost. And considering how much attendees likely spent on their fancy attire in hopes of winning the “Diamond” title at the ball, it’s hard to justify the event’s expense, isn’t it? The quality of the food and entertainment also left a lot to be desired.
As a gamer putting on my critique hat, I can’t help but chuckle and comment aloud, “Wow, I don’t remember seeing strippers in Bridgerton! This feels like an odd addition to the show that sticks out like a sore thumb.” It’s as if someone decided to introduce an unexpected boss level into our favorite game, leaving us scratching our heads and wondering if we accidentally pressed a secret key combination. I can only hope this moment becomes a hilarious meme, etching itself permanently in our collective memories.
It’s important to note that there have been other “Bridgerton-like” experiences offered, which lived up to viewers’ expectations and made participants feel as if they were part of the Netflix series. Unfortunately, many attendees saw pictures and videos from these events and anticipated spending their money on something of comparable quality.
Due to the letdown caused by the unfortunate event, numerous attendees are demanding legal action in an effort to recover their expenditures. For those eagerly awaiting further developments on the Detroit Bridgerton Experience, you can currently enjoy the series from your own home by subscribing to Netflix.
