Throughout her distinguished acting career, Sanya Malhotra has captivated a significant portion of the audience with her outstanding performances. Whether in her debut film Dangal or the hit movie Jawan, she has managed to win over viewers with her characters, even when sharing the screen with notable Bollywood stars. Her latest 2024 release, Mrs., is now available on OTT platforms and is receiving praise for its quality.
In an exclusive chat with TopMob, the young actress opened up about her character, Richa Sharma. When prompted if experiences similar to her character’s in the Arati Kadav film were familiar, she affirmed yes. Sanya expressed that many of us have either lived or observed the female character akin to Mrs., making the narrative extremely relevant and timely. This resonance is why she found the story compelling enough to take part in it.
The Kathal actress remarked, “Certainly, I’ve noticed qualities of Richa in my mother, aunts, grandaunts, and female friends. It’s not just about one woman, but rather multiple women we encounter and get to know closely.” In our conversation, she explained that characters like Richa might resemble women you’ve met or observed in real life because society often shapes them that way.

Following its screenings at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and the New York Indian Film Festival the previous year, the film was made available on ZEE5 starting February 7, 2025. Not long after, social media was abuzz with praise for the plot and Sanya’s acting. Consequently, she graciously acknowledged the appreciation directed her way.
