Mt. Gox Creditors Receive Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash  Payment Update

Some Mt. Gox creditors have reported that the trustee has provided new information for their claims, including details on compensation for both money and Bitcoin.

Members of the Mt. Gox bankruptcy Reddit community report that the trustee has provided them with specific repayment amounts and timelines for settling their claims.

The repayment table with JPY and claims has appeared on my screen now after I signed in. However, I haven’t received anything as of yet.

Based on several screenshots, it has been reported that the section for repaying fiat money debts shows as fully paid off. Consumers have shared experiences of receiving refunds in their bank accounts in the form of traditional currency.

On Mondays, a supposed Mt. Gox creditor expressed that they receive US dollars and incur no fees when depositing into their HSBC account.

The Reddit user noted that it took nearly a month for the fiat transfer to appear in their account following the updates to the subreddit’s repayments table on March 15, April 8, and April 18.

Established in 2010, Mt. Gox grew to be the leading global bitcoin exchange, but its reputation was tarnished following a major security incident in 2014 which resulted in the unfortunate loss of approximately 850,000 bitcoins.

In September 2023, the trustee overseeing the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange announced that creditors would receive a combined amount of 142,000 bitcoins, 143,000 bitcoin cash, and approximately 69 billion Japanese yen (equivalent to $510 million) in compensation by October 2024.
