As an ardent fan of both Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu, I can hardly contain my excitement! Barry Jenkins, the genius behind Mufasa: The Lion King, acknowledging their talent and expressing his eagerness to see them bring Mufasa and Simba to life in their respective languages is nothing short of a dream come true.

Fans of Shah Rukh Khan erupted with delight when it was revealed that he would lend his voice to the legendary comic character Mufasa for the Hindi adaptation of “The Lion King.” At the same time, Mahesh Babu is set to voice the main character in the Telugu version of the American musical drama film. In a conversation, director Barry Jenkins, who was behind the original movie, shared that he has enjoyed watching films by SRK and Mahesh. He also mentioned that he hasn’t had an opportunity to engage with them directly yet.

Barry Jenkins, an American filmmaker, recently chatted with News18 Showsha about his film Mufasa: The Lion King. In this discussion, he acknowledged that Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu are providing voices for the Hindi and Telugu versions of his movie. Interestingly, he shared that he has also watched films featuring these two talented Indian actors.

Barry Jenkins mentioned that he hadn’t had a direct conversation with the cast members, but rather interacted with the director of the Indian adaptation of his film. He found it particularly interesting and validating to discover that the sentiments of the characters were equally important to the Indian filmmakers as they were to him, which was an aspect Barry Jenkins valued greatly.

He added, “I find it quite touching that these particular actors will portray these specific characters.” However, when inquired about King Khan and Mahesh Babu’s movies he has seen, the filmmaker explained that to avoid mispronouncing their film titles, he prefers not to mention them.

Barry added that he prefers not to select films from their repertoire that might leave the actors wondering, ‘What made you pick this movie?’ He openly shared his enthusiasm upon learning that he would voice Mufasa, saying he was overjoyed.

In an unprecedented event, Shah Rukh Khan is teaming up with his sons for the first time in the film Mufasa: The Lion King. Aryan Khan will voice the character Simba, while young AbRam makes his industry debut by providing the voice-over for Young Mufasa.
