As February 2025 approaches its end, I can’t help but feel the swiftness of this month, being the shortest and often one of the coldest. Yet, as we bid farewell to February this year, it seems to be going out with a flare, presenting an array of captivating movies in theaters that are worth watching.
One movie that has particularly piqued my interest is Oz Perkins’ latest work, “The Monkey”, which follows his fan-favorite “Longlegs” and delves into Stephen King’s narrative. For those seeking high-adrenaline thrills, Martin Campbell’s “The Cleaner” promises to deliver an edge-of-your-seat experience.

Individuals preferring to remain at home have several streaming choices this month. Shudder introduces the debut film of Spider One from ‘Powerman 5000’ fame onto its online streaming service, featuring the chilling Little Bites. The world’s swiftest rodent makes its appearance on Paramount+ with Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Lastly, viewers can decide for themselves if ‘The Crow’, a box office disaster of a thriller, is worth watching as it becomes available on Starz. Here are our top picks for the weekend of February 21, 2025, followed by a comprehensive list of all new titles available to stream, rent, or watch in theaters.

Drawing early comparisons to Die Hard, Cleaner follows an ex-soldier-turned-window-cleaner, Joey Locke (Daisey Ridley), who finds herself the only one who can save a group of 300 hostages. She must lean on her past skills to stop a murderous terrorist.
In his review, Julian Roman pointed out flaws in the movie’s subplots and script, but he couldn’t help but praise Daisey Riley’s performance, calling her “Ridley” a standout in physically demanding roles and the film’s strongest asset. Fans of Daisey Riley will likely want to catch Cleaner on the big screen to form their own opinions about Martin Campbell’s latest work following his directing stint on Casino Royale.
‘Little Bites’ (2024)
Streaming on Shudder
In this scenario, a caring mother named Mindy endures an agonizing ordeal: she agrees to let a being called Agyar gradually devour her body in small pieces, so that her 10-year-old daughter Alice can live securely with her grandmother. When Child Services starts probing their family life and hints at taking Alice away, Mindy ponders finding another person for Agyar to torment, in order to preserve her daughter’s wellbeing.
Spider One offers a distinctive horror idea supported by robust character development. The film Little Bites is quite chilling and has several truly terrifying scenes that will make your skin crawl. Notably, the participation of horror icon Barbara Crampton adds to its appeal. If you’re seeking an uncommon horror experience, you can catch Little Bites on Shudder.

As a devoted admirer of Stephen King’s work, I can confidently say that The Monkey, directed by Oz Perkins, hasn’t quite received the recognition it deserves yet! This latest adaptation promises to be an exhilarating experience for horror enthusiasts, with its intriguing blend of over-the-top violence and a cursed monkey toy stirring up a whirlwind of chaos on the big screen. I can hardly wait to witness the mayhem unfold this weekend!
In his review, George Edelman from Movieweb compares the movie favorably to Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpieces like Psycho, suggesting that, just like Hitchcock, the actor Perkins manages to discuss profound themes without dictating what we should think, how we should interpret them, or why they matter.
