Nadaaniyan: Ibrahim Ali Khan shares whether rom-com was ‘perfect debut’ for him; ‘I did want a commercial…’

As a lifestyle expert, I had the pleasure of witnessing Ibrahim Ali Khan‘s debut in the charming romantic comedy Nadaaniyan, which made its premiere on Netflix. While the film didn’t quite resonate with viewers as expected, our talented newcomer has expressed his thoughts on whether this was the ideal start for him. Ibrahim openly admitted that he aspired for a grand, commercial launch on the big screen; however, he also acknowledged that the cinematic landscape has significantly changed from what it used to be.

In a chat with Filmfare, Ibrahim Ali Khan was questioned about whether he believed Nadaaniyan was the ideal debut for him. To this, he explained that prior to his first role, he had collaborated with Karan Johar on Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He expressed his deep admiration and respect for the filmmaker. Ibrahim went on to say that Karan provided him with an excellent foundation for Nadaaniyan. He was thankful to Karan for having faith in him, and for mentoring him.

The actor also shared that he longed for a spectacular debut in the theater. “Indeed, I desired a blockbuster, lavish introduction, something that would shake the theater’s seats. However, these days, perhaps theaters aren’t as lively as they once were,” he stated.

In today’s era, Ibrahim Ali Khan contends that success largely hinges on the director and the content. Referencing actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Ranbir Kapoor, he opined that such stellar talents may not be replicated in the future. Ibrahim added, “The dynamics of stardom have significantly changed from the ’80s and ’90s when their mere presence in front of the camera could guarantee a movie’s success.

Ibrahim mentioned that it’s challenging for modern actors to create a sensation similar to what was once experienced. He clarified that he doesn’t view himself as a star but rather as an ordinary person. He believed his performances should be the ones to convey his worth, stating, “I appreciate being an actor and producing quality work, which will be crucial in 2025.

Ibrahim summed up by stating that once upon a time, a well-known celebrity could salvage a poor screenplay, however, this is not the case nowadays.

Ibrahim Ali Khan will next be seen in the action thriller Sarzameen.
