As a long-time fan of survival shows, I’ve seen it all – from people braving harsh weather conditions to hunting and foraging in the wild. But Naked And Afraid: Last One Standing has taken things to a whole new level. I was utterly fascinated by the latest episode, which featured contestants eating seeds extracted from elephant dung as part of a challenge.
Caution: This section may reveal secrets from the second season episode “Dung Deal” of Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing. Proceed with caution if you prefer to be surprised during viewing.
“Naked and Afraid: Last Man (or Woman) Standing” returns for Season 2! Although some might be disappointed they can’t access it via Max at the moment, this season could justify a cable subscription for those intrigued by contestants consuming seeds found in an elephant’s feces. It ultimately depends on individual preferences; if you find that scenario appealing, then the recent episode featured plenty of it.
In the past, the most off-putting aspect of the show “Naked and Afraid” was the concept of abstaining from showering for extended periods while living in their natural state. However, this notion is now outdated. With the introduction of a cash reward in “Last One Standing,” the stakes have been raised significantly. Contestants on this show went beyond the call of duty by consuming seeds extracted from elephant dung, all without the certainty of earning any prize money.
Each contestant group was tasked with collecting twenty mopane seeds from elephant feces. They then had to crush these seeds finely in order to use them effectively as bird bait. Fernando Calderon suggested a rather unconventional method for this, which involved consuming the seeds first before regurgitating them for crushing. He added an intriguing comment about their taste: “They’re reminiscent of what you might imagine.”
Why One Naked And Afraid Contestant Had To Quit On The Spot
I would quit over much less.
During Naked And Afraid: Last One Standing, Survivalists were no doubt drawn to the $100k prize. But there may have been something even more enticing for their appetites. The competition winners received ostrich eggs, which are a delicious food source in survival situations. The thought of people risking so much for eggs is hard to fathom. If they were shown a mouth-watering food video or offered the chance to take on one of Adam Richman’s failed Man v. Food challenges instead, their reactions would be priceless! Even the demanding culinary experience of Super Size Me would seem like a gourmet feast in comparison.
An intriguing aspect of the segment was that not a single person declined the challenge or fell ill, despite some discomfort like retching and gagging. Given how I would have reacted with vomiting if in their shoes, their determination to secure those ostrich eggs is commendable.
If Episode 2 of “Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing” involves this type of challenge, I might need to reconsider my 2024 TV lineup. With the second season being released on major streaming platforms with a delay, it would be wise for those intrigued to follow suit, as it’s uncertain when another reality show will persuade contestants to eat poop seeds so enthusiastically.
On Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET, I tune in to Discovery for the thrilling survival show “Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing.” If I want a heads up on what this spinoff competition series is all about, I can always use my Hulu subscription to watch previous seasons of the original show. But sometimes, the unexpected twists and turns make it more exciting to go in blind and let the challenges unfold naturally.
