As a dedicated follower of Nana Patekar‘s illustrious career spanning over four decades, I must say that his recent admission about slapping a fan during the filming of Vanvaas is a testament to his humanity and humility. Despite being a legendary actor with an impeccable reputation, he acknowledges his mistakes and takes responsibility for his actions, which is commendable.
In a recent interview, Nana Patekar discussed an old incident where he physically interacted with a fan on the set of “Vanvaas”. He acknowledged that his actions were inappropriate and apologized for slapping the individual. He emphasized the importance of understanding the appropriate context in which to express affection towards someone, stating that the incident caused quite a stir.
In case you’re unaware, I found myself right smack in the middle of a stirring situation. You see, I was Nana Patekar, an actor, who had a run-in with a man eager for a selfie during filming in Varanasi. During a brief pause in our shooting, this individual ventured onto the set with aspirations of capturing a photo with me.
In conversation with News18, Nana Patekar reminisced on an event where someone came up to him, causing a stir. He openly admitted to having struck this person, recognizing that his actions were inappropriate.
Nana clarified that the individual didn’t understand they were in the midst of a scene when they acted out of affection. Inadvertently, they joined the set and attempted to snap a selfie, which led to Nana responding by lightly striking him. He underscored that while her response might have been excessive, there is indeed a proper moment for expressing love.
If he’d let the shot go off first, Nana suggested, there wouldn’t have been a problem. However, things escalated into a significant dispute when it transpired.
In response to his actions, Nana became angered and physically reacted by giving him a slap, which was caught on camera. Once the video went viral, Nana subsequently offered an apology to the fan.
In response to a question about whether filming outdoors has grown more complex for directors, Anil Sharma (known for Gadar 2) conceded that it certainly is becoming harder, particularly given the surge in popularity of social media.
He explained that it’s hard to avoid having shots copied, as audiences often share videos on platforms like Twitter (now X) and Instagram. Sharma revealed that to address this issue, they now have to set up a separate digital team to get these videos removed, making it an additional task.
Meanwhile, Vanvaas is all set to release on December 20, 2024.
