Lin-Manuel Miranda, an American playwright and musician, along with Eisa Davis, a renowned American playwright and actress, are developing a conceptual album based on the 1979 film “The Warriors”. Recently, they revealed that Nas, a Brooklyn-born rapper, has joined the team as the project’s executive producer.

The upcoming 26-song album features an impressive ensemble of vocalists, with the production team, headed by Mike Elizondo, yet to reveal the specific artists contributing to each track.

In the film “The Warriors,” directed by Walter Hill, the story based on Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel was adapted for the cinema. The narrative revolves around a made-up New York City street gang who are falsely accused of killing a well-known gang leader. Consequently, they embark on a journey spanning 30 miles from the northern tip of the Bronx to Coney Island to clear their names.

Miranda and Davis announced in a shared statement that for the past three years they’ve been creating music about the Warriors’ return journey, from the South Bronx to Coney Island. During this process, they’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with several artists they admire, and they plan to reveal their contributions on the album soon. They are excited to eventually let everyone listen to these songs.

On October 18, the “Warriors” album by Miranda and Davis, which is executive-produced by Nas, will be launched through Atlantic Records.
