NCIS Is Almost Back, Baby, As Wilmer Valderrama And Sean Murray Celebrate After Return To Set

As a dedicated NCIS fan who’s been following the show since its early days, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming season! With Wilmer Valderrama and Sean Murray back on set and ready to bring their characters to life, it’s like reuniting with old friends. I can almost hear the familiar theme song playing in my head already!

As we approach autumn in 2024, you’ll notice that television networks will begin airing fresh shows and new seasons of existing ones, usually starting from mid-September. In this case, fans can eagerly anticipate both Season 22 of NCIS and the Leroy Jethro Gibbs prequel series, NCIS: Origins, premiering in October. Meanwhile, key cast members Wilmer Valderrama and Sean Murray are deeply engrossed in NCIS preparations, expressing their excitement about the show’s upcoming return on social media following their return to set.

Actors David Valderrama (depicting Nick Torres) and Sean Murray (portraying Timothy McGee) paused from shooting the current season of NCIS, to snap a photo showing off their badges, which they shared on Instagram for everyone to view. Take a look!

Two weeks ago, Wilmer Valderrama posted on social media that filming for NCIS Season 22 had started. Similar to Season 21, he’ll be returning alongside Gary Cole as Alden Parker, Katrina Law as Jessica Knight, Brian Dietzen as Jimmy Palmer, Diana Reasonover as Katie Hines, and Rocky Carroll as Leon Vance. The number of episodes for this season is still uncertain, but it won’t be just 10 like Season 21, which had fewer episodes due to last year’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes affecting production.

Regardless, fans of NCIS can rest assured that the cast and team are diligently working on Season 22, with the outcome of their labor to be revealed in two months’ time. It’s worth noting that Sean Murray, a founding member of the current cast, has been with NCIS since its early days, joining as a recurring character in Season 1’s seventh episode and then becoming a mainstay in Season 2. As Season 22 unfolds, Murray is poised to outnumber the late David McCallum for the most appearances across the franchise of this procedural series. Moreover, Valderrama’s Nick Torres made his regular appearance on the show during Season 14.

In the upcoming season of NCIS, the question hanging in the air is about the role of Jessica Knight. At the end of Season 21, she agreed to take up Director Vance’s offer to teach at Camp Pendleton as a REACT instructor. However, Katrina Law will still be part of the main cast for Season 22. This leaves us wondering how Jessica might return to the team, or if the show will find a way to involve her while she’s working at her new job. Furthermore, Wilmer Valderrama hinted that Season 22 could bring some sad events and possibly present an opportunity for Nick Torres to find love.

Hey there fellow gaming enthusiast! Mark your calendars for Monday, October 14th, as I’m super excited to dive into two brand new seasons of my favorite show: NCIS. Season 22 and the debut season of NCIS: Origins are about to drop!
