As a long-time enthusiast of the NCIS universe, who’s spent countless hours engrossed in the exploits of Tony DiNozzo and his comrades, I can’t help but feel a twinge of excitement at the prospect of Tony & Ziva gracing our screens once more. The idea of these iconic characters, now with a tween daughter in tow, embarking on a European adventure is tantalizing, to say the least.
The popular NCIS series keeps generating revenue for CBS, and a new spinoff titled NCIS: Tony & Ziva is set to debut soon. This upcoming show will feature Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo revisiting their iconic roles as they traverse Europe with their young daughter. At this moment, there’s no information about other NCIS stars appearing alongside them, but Eric Christian Olsen from NCIS: LA is keeping an eye on the situation and stirring up excitement among fans.
Production on Tony & Ziva kicked off over the summer, and Weatherly has occasionally been sharing some fun content on social media. Last month, the Bull alum shared a photo on Instagram from set, complete with camels in the background as he posed with writer John McNamara. Then, the Marty Deeks actor took to the comments and asked a pretty great question:
How am I not on this show?
There’s a strong desire among fans for Deeks’ return to the franchise. It’s unclear how he might end up in Europe, given that Kensi and he would probably have their baby before the series starts. Nevertheless, it would add excitement to see him, even if just briefly or through video calls. Fans share this enthusiasm, as indicated by their comments.

Eric Christian Olsen hasn’t made his first appearance in a new series since NCIS: LA ended, but this isn’t a new situation for him. Last year, he expressed interest in joining another spinoff, specifically NCIS: Sydney. Just as before, he used the comments section of an Instagram post to express his enthusiasm, stating that “Deeks is fond of surfing and Australia has fantastic waves…” However, he wasn’t part of the first season. With Season 2 set to air on CBS in the 2025 television schedule, there’s always a chance he could be involved.
Moreover, given that LL Cool J reprised his role as Sam Hanna for NCIS: Hawai’i and Daniela Ruah made an appearance as Kensi Blye during the 1,000th episode of NCIS via video, it’s plausible that Olsen might follow suit.
Michael Weatherly even had something to say about it, commenting:
If Deadpool and Wolverine have shown us anything, it’s that you’ll become more adept at your comebacks in the future.
As a gamer, if Olsen popped up in the TV series “NCIS: Tony & Ziva,” it’d only seem natural for me, Deeks, to give them a call over video chat about some business. But hey, who knows? A job might take me overseas again, just like in the past. So, finding me in Europe isn’t entirely implausible. However, any reunion would need to make sense and likely tie into something Tony and Ziva are currently dealing with on their end.
It’s uncertain if Tony and Ziva will appear alongside other NCIS stars, but it seems that Olsen is eager to return to the franchise. With hopes high for his comeback, viewers with a Paramount+ subscription can revisit him as Deeks in LA.
