It’s more than just a bit strange now between exes Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law). They parted ways so that Knight could take up a job at Camp Pendleton, which was a major shift for her – but she’s already come back to Washington. This puts them both in an uncomfortable position where they must find new romantic paths, all while being visible to each other.

In this story, Jimmy finds himself with feelings for his neighbor, Wendy Hill (Erinn Hayes). However, things become complicated when the team starts to suspect that Wendy could be the infamous Saratoga Specter, a serial killer and the one who hid large sums of money in the woods. To gather evidence, Jimmy organizes a party at his house, intending to collect DNA samples. As tensions rise between him and Wendy, the team suddenly enters the scene to apprehend her. What makes matters worse is that it’s Jessica who handcuffs Wendy. Later, when Jimmy tries to thank Jessica for protecting him, she merely replies that this is what family does.

From here on out, it seems there could be conflicts regarding the future of Knight and Jimmy’s relationship, as Brian Dietzen hinted in his conversation with TV Insider. He suggested a potential internal struggle between moving forward to someone else or revisiting their relationship, which has become more complex due to Wendy. It appears that this tangled situation may not be resolved anytime soon.

Could Wendy and Jimmy have a future?

Jimmy is finding his way back into dating, as Brian Dietzen shared with TV Insider. In his own words, “He’s trying to make sense of it all.” He went on to say, “It seems like he’s trying to navigate through it, but it’s not going smoothly.” The challenge for Jimmy is that every time he lays eyes on Jessica, the choice between old and new love becomes even more complex. Dietzen confessed that Jimmy acknowledges his feelings for Jessica, yet the decision remains difficult due to the comparison of the past and present.

Given that all doubts about Wendy were proven false – it was her thief father, the real Saratoga Specter who passed away, that was behind the misunderstandings – Dietzen is also considering the possibility of Jimmy spending more time with Wendy in the future. He suggested, “Perhaps he can invite her on a second date without any weapons involved. I’m not sure. We’ll find out,” further mentioning his friendship with the actress who portrays Wendy, Erinn Hayes.

It seems that Jimmy has a multitude of romantic options ahead, but he may find himself feeling trapped between Jessica and Wendy. However, the producers hinted at an engaging relationship development for Jimmy and Jessica in Season 22. We’ll just have to wait to discover who will ultimately be content with the outcome.
