NCIS: Sydney’s Bluebird Character Gets Major Backstory Reveal In Season 2

If you’ve been relishing the NCIS series shows scheduled for 2025 TV lineup, there’s no need to fret – they won’t be disappearing any time soon! Last week brought exciting news as NCIS, NCIS: Origins, and NCIS: Sydney have all been extended for another season. In the case of Sydney, this means it’s moving forward into its third season. However, that’s not the only piece of exciting news regarding the Australian spinoff accessible through a Paramount+ subscription. Showrunner Morgan O’Neill also shared some intriguing details with TopMob. Not only can we expect to uncover more about Mavournee Hazel’s character Bluebird “Blue” Gleeson in Season 2, but O’Neill specified when this will happen!

Prior to the announcement of NCIS: Sydney Season 3, I had a chat with O’Neill about the early episodes of Season 2. He shared insights on the significant Mackey reveal from the premiere and hinted at when we can expect to encounter this season’s main antagonist. During our conversation, I inquired if Blue’s backstory would be explored in Season 2 since her personal life outside of work has yet to be fully explored, to which he replied:

In the upcoming season, we can expect to discover more about the character Blue than any other team member, as her story unfolds from Episode 7 onwards. Initially, her development may not seem conscious, but by the time the plot thickens, you might find yourself astonished. We’ll delve deep into her past and origins, revealing one surprise after another. If you’re a fan of Blue, hold onto your seats because the ride is going to be intense and bumpy in Season 2!

Sydney shared with us that JD’s funny yellow vest in the recent episode was strategically used to portray the genuine essence of Australia.

The showrunner of NCIS: Sydney casually mentioned Tony and Ziva during a conversation about what makes Evie and DeShawn such an exceptional duo.

In discussing the unique chemistry between Evie and DeShawn on NCIS: Sydney, the showrunner playfully referenced Tony and Ziva as a point of comparison.

It’s exciting to anticipate developments in the second season’s latter part of NCIS: Sydney. Initially, Blue, who is an AFP forensic scientist, joined the team temporarily at the beginning of the series. However, by the end of Episode 3, she was officially made a permanent member. Since then, she and William McInnes’ character Roy “Rosie” Penrose, another AFP forensic pathologist, have been instrumental in employing their scientific techniques to aid in crime-solving efforts. Meanwhile, Mackey, JD, DeShawn, and Evie focus on field work.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to discover that Blue, who was once the enigma among our beloved characters, might transform into an open book in Season 2. I’m eagerly anticipating the secrets about her life that will be unveiled, and how these revelations could leave us stunned. If they’re as significant as I suspect, it’ll be intriguing to see how this impacts her teammates’ perceptions of her. While I understand the storyline may not allow for too much upheaval, I can’t wait to witness these fascinating disclosures!

There’s not much time left before the upcoming “Blue Information Dump”. Make sure to stay tuned to NCIS: Sydney, which airs every Friday at 8 pm ET on CBS in the U.S. Also, catch both NCIS and NCIS: Origins on Monday nights, also on CBS.
