As a long-time fan of Michael Schur’s comedies and Ted Danson’s impeccable acting, I must say that “A Man on the Inside” has truly been a delightful addition to my streaming routine. With its clever writing, heartfelt scenes, and the perfect blend of humor and suspense, it’s no wonder that this show has captured the hearts of many viewers.
Since Ted Danson’s “A Man on the Inside” debuted in the 2024 TV lineup, it’s been a smash hit among fans who streamed it with their Netflix subscriptions and received rave reviews from critics. The hilarious comedy by Michael Schur has been topping Rotten Tomatoes and trending on the streaming platform, but unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t greenlit another season just yet. However, although there’s still no official announcement about Season 2, I’m delighted to say that we do have some positive news to share!
Previously, Schur shared with TopMob that although a second season of “A Man on the Inside” wasn’t definitive at that time, they had always aspired for it to be a series that spanned multiple seasons. Moreover, critics have been praising the Ted Danson-led comedy as “excellent TV,” which suggests a high likelihood of renewal. Fortunately, it appears that the show’s lead actor also believes this, expressing to THR that news about Season 2 should be announced soon.
As a gamer, I can only hope and wait to get picked up for the next level. Netflix has its own selection process, so we’ll find out within a month if we make the cut. Things look promising right now, but I’ve learned not to count my chickens before they hatch. It’s always better to keep your fingers crossed and stay optimistic rather than getting too ahead of myself.
It’s important to note that Netflix often ends shows after just one season, regardless of their success. Therefore, even though it appears as if they recognize that “A Man on the Inside” deserves additional seasons, this doesn’t automatically guarantee that it will actually occur.

As a gamer, I’ve been eagerly throwing around ideas for a sequel since the first season wrapped up. It’s still too early to tell if it’ll happen, but I’m optimistic – we might be looking at a couple more weeks, or even months. But even before the final episode aired, my friends and I were brainstorming how a second season could take our favorite 76-year-old protagonist on new adventures while maintaining the essence of his character. With the cliffhanger ending, he’s no longer undercover at Pacific View, but he’s found a fresh start in life as an undercover detective with a renewed vigor and purpose. This leaves us with plenty of opportunities to expand the storyline in future seasons!
As for when Netflix could eventually announce news of the renewal, it’s unknown.
As a dedicated gamer here, it’s fascinating to delve into the fact that the creator behind some of my favorite binge-worthy comedies, including The Good Place, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and even The Office, is none other than Michael Schur. This man has a knack for creating shows that stand the test of time. And let me tell you, his passion for A Man on the Inside is as obvious as daylight. He’s eager to keep working on it as long as Netflix keeps the green light on!
I’ve proposed to Netflix that I’d continue writing seasons for their show featuring Ted Danson as an undercover detective, on their terms, as long as they see fit to keep compensating me. If given the chance, I’m ready to commit to this project until 2050.
With its touching moments, witty humor, and clever references (such as the one reminiscent of “The Good Place”), and an endearing main character who transforms from a retiree into an amateur detective, this series seems designed for longevity. Thus, let’s keep our fingers crossed that it continues to thrive.
Based on Danson and Schur’s observations, it appears that Netflix may soon officially reveal the fate of their show.
