As a die-hard Twilight fan who’s been through the Cullen-Swan rollercoaster twice (once with Bella’s perspective and once with Jacob’s), I can’t help but feel my heart racing at the news of an animated series based on Midnight Sun. The idea of diving back into Edward’s mind, his thoughts, his feelings, is almost too much to bear!
As a hardcore fan of Twilight, I can’t contain my excitement! It’s been twelve long years since we last saw the silver screen adaptation of the fifth and final film in this epic franchise. But now, Netflix is bringing the vampires back to life with an animated series based on Stephanie Meyer’s Midnight Sun – a captivating companion novel to the original series. Can’t wait for this one!
Released in 2020, “Midnight Sun” offers a fresh take on the original story told in “Twilight”, this time presenting events from the point of view of Edward Cullen instead of the usual narrator, Bella Swan
In the same vein as when films are made from her books, Meyer is taking up the role of executive producer for the Netflix series “Midnight Sun”, along with Meghan Hibbett, who is a partner at her production studio Fickle Fish Films
Besides serving as executive producers, Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, Erik Feig, and Samie Kim Falvey are also involved. Sinead Daly holds dual roles as both writer and executive producer for the series
An official release date for the show has yet to be announced.
