Netflix Is Losing One Of Its Greatest Comedies (And Its Sequel) At The End Of The Month, And I’m Going To Binge ‘Em While I Still Can

2025 on Netflix is going to witness some fresh alterations in their schedule as we step into a new year. Among the titles that will be departing by the end of January, there are several hilarious comedies you shouldn’t miss, such as “Not Another Teen Movie” and “White Chicks”. Unfortunately, I’m disappointed that one of Netflix‘s popular comedy series is set to leave on January 31st. To ensure I don’t miss out, I intend to watch them all before they disappear from the platform.

Recently, several comedy movies set for release in 2025 have been announced, including “The Love Scam,” an Italian romantic comedy, and “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl,” a claymation film that received an Oscar nomination. Unfortunately, it’s been confirmed that the films “21 Jump Street” and its sequel “22 Jump Street” will be leaving Netflix at the end of this month. This is certainly disappointing news for those who still enjoy slinging their backpacks over one shoulder.

It’s a terrific idea to catch the Jump Street films on Netflix before they depart, for they offer one of the finest examples of bromance in cinema. The story revolves around two cops, Schmidt and Jenko, who were polar opposites in high school but eventually team up for undercover assignments. Channing Tatum’s athletic charm and Jonah Hill’s nerdy demeanor create a side-splitting duo. Notable supporting actors in the 21 Jump Street ensemble include Ice Cube as the stern yet amusing police captain and Brie Larson as Schmidt’s love interest. Each character added a unique, ingenious twist to their humor that ensured every joke hit home perfectly.

Additionally, we shouldn’t overlook its humorous follow-up, which matched the quality of the first one. Unlike the initial film where Schmidt and Jenko disguised themselves as high school students, the second installment, titled 22 Jump Street, had them undercover at a college. It’s fascinating how the sequel subtly satirized the common practice of movie sequels repeating similar themes from their predecessors. Remarkably, even with familiar elements, this buddy cop comedy managed to maintain its originality and novelty.

In the sequel of “22 Jump Street”, while the storylines and characters were much the same, it offered some hilarious scenes that I still chuckle at, such as when Jenko discovers Schmidt has been dating their captain’s daughter. Channing Tatum really showcased his improvisational talents during this amusing scene, as he imagined his character would announce the news to the entire building in real life. Another riotous moment was “My Name is Jeff,” which surprisingly became a meme sensation. Packed with countless laugh-out-loud moments, you should definitely watch the “Jump Street” films now!

It’s unfortunate that the “21 Jump Street” movies are departing from their Netflix residence, but I remain optimistic that someday we might witness the fusion of “23 Jump Street” and “Men in Black 4.” Until January 31st, take advantage of your Netflix subscription by enjoying these action-comedy films to your heart’s content.
