- Sports Sports is the newest release from Netflix Games
- This retro-style athletic simulator boasts dozens of minigames to play
- Duke it out with other athletes in multiplayer and create your own athlete!
As a long-time fan of sports and video games, I was thrilled when I heard about Netflix Games releasing Sports Sports. With the Olympics in full swing this year, I found myself missing the excitement and competition that comes with watching the world’s best athletes go head to head.
2024 Summer Olympics are happening in vibrant Paris right now, and it might leave you feeling a tad envious that you can’t attend the events. But fear not! If you’re craving some sports action and drama right at your fingertips, and happen to be a Netflix subscriber, why not watch the freshly-launched Sports Sports instead?
As a devoted fan, I’ve got to say that while it might not be the actual game of the Olympics, Sports Sports certainly delivers an exhilarating experience! In this captivating sports simulator, you get the chance to test your skills in a variety of 12 thrilling minigames. These games are themed around iconic athletic events such as track and field, swimming, archery, and weightlifting, offering an authentic taste of Olympic-style competition right at your fingertips!
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that Sports Sports sets itself apart from other games in certain ways. While it doesn’t have a traditional career mode where you build up a athlete from scratch, it does let you keep track of your stats and create your own player. However, what really shines in this game are the quick playlists of minigames, where you can compete against other players in multiplayer and more.
Let the games commence
As a sports enthusiast, I can tell you that playing sports games feels challenging because no virtual experience can perfectly replicate the complexities of real-life athletics, except perhaps through advanced VR technology. However, despite this reality, sports games offer an engaging alternative with simple and intuitive gameplay mechanics, nostalgic pixel art graphics, and the added bonus of being available at no cost to us.
1. Right now, you have the opportunity to explore various sports offerings directly through the Netflix app on both iOS and Android platforms (i.e., from the Apple App Store and Google Play)!
