At Netflix’s headquarters in Los Angeles, I was privileged to be part of their “Next on Netflix” event. It was a behind-the-scenes sneak peek into some exciting upcoming movies, TV shows, and video games. Bela Bajaria, the chief content officer, spotlighted several noteworthy titles that have us fans eagerly anticipating their release. Additionally, they hosted 11 regional presentations in various locations worldwide, such as the UK, Mexico, and Canada, giving fans like me a global perspective on what’s to come.
The L.A. event featured video messages from notable figures, and during his speech, Guillermo del Toro expressed his longstanding desire to create a full-length adaptation of “Frankenstein.” For half a century, he has felt an intimate connection with the character that transcends into a sort of personal biography. As he put it, “There is no project closer to my heart than this one.
Netflix unveiled a fresh glimpse into the upcoming movie based on Mary Shelley’s timeless horror story, where Oscar Isaac portrays Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi takes on the role of the Frankenstein monster. The service has confirmed that Del Toro’s film is set to premiere in November.
In addition to other updates, it was announced that director Joe Carnahan’s crime film titled “RIP” will make its debut in the fall. This movie, featuring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, revolves around a group of Miami police officers who stumble upon a large cache of money hidden in a secret location. At the premiere event, Affleck described the film as an “exciting, intriguing journey that keeps you on your toes.
Furthermore, Netflix has unveiled information about the upcoming film titled “Jay Kelly” directed by Baumbach, which features stars like Clooney, Sandler, and Laura Dern. According to a recent description released by Netflix, this movie is classified as a “heartbreaking comedy” and is scheduled to premiere in autumn.
Netflix unveiled a fresh snapshot from the upcoming movie by writer-director Rian Johnson titled “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery“. It was announced that this film is set to premiere in autumn, with a star-studded cast. The third installment of the Knives Out series features Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
This year, several new projects are being introduced with fresh looks, including Kyle Newacheck’s “Happy Gilmore 2” featuring Adam Sandler, set to premiere; Simon Stone’s “The Woman in Cabin 10,” an adaptation of Ruth Ware’s novel starring Keira Knightley, Guy Pearce, and Hannah Waddingham, slated for fall; and Matt Palmer’s “Fear Street: Prom Queen” starring India Fowler, premiering this summer.
Here are the newly unveiled dates on the 2025 film calendar:
1. The upcoming directorial venture by Gareth Evans, titled “Havoc,” a thriller featuring Tom Hardy, will make its debut this spring.
2. Stephen Chbosky’s comedy titled “Nonnas” starring Vince Vaughn and Susan Sarandon is scheduled for streaming on May 9.
3. Victoria Mahoney’s action sequel, “The Old Guard 2,” with Charlize Theron in the lead role, is slated to premiere in July.
4. The unnamed thriller by Kathryn Bigelow, starring Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson, has been rescheduled for release in the fall.
The documentary directed by Angus Wall, focusing on the illustrious career of Eddie Murphy as he reflects on his past achievements, has been renamed Eddie and is scheduled for release this year. Similarly, Mark Monroe’s documentary about the fateful voyage of the Titan submersible to the remnants of the Titanic has a new title, simply called Titan. Both productions have unveiled their initial visual previews.
