Netflix to Wrap ‘Heartstopper’ With Movie

Netflix has officially announced that the popular series, “Heartstopper,” will draw to a close with a full-length movie. This closing chapter of the celebrated LGBTQ+ teen drama is set to be adapted from Alice Oseman’s forthcoming sixth volume in the Heartstopper graphic novel series.

The announcement was shared on Tuesday through Netflix’s official X account: “We’re thrilled to announce that ‘Heartstopper’ will be back, even bigger this time… Get ready for a ‘Heartstopper’ movie, our grand finale inspired by Alice Oseman’s upcoming volume six!”

The movie brings back Kit Connor and Joe Locke, who play Nick and Charlie respectively in the series, both of whom will also be executive producers on the film. Alice Oseman, creator of “Heartstopper,” has penned a screenplay based on her upcoming volume 6 of “Heartstopper.” Wash Westmoreland, director of “Still Alice,” is set to direct this project. Filming will commence this summer.

As per Netflix’s Tudum, the movie is set to trace the story of the couple navigating through a long-distance relationship: Nick prepares for college, while Charlie learns to stand on her own in school. Additionally, secondary characters will also be shown evolving and growing into young adults.

The film will wrap the hit franchise that debuted in 2022, and ran for three seasons.
