As a hardcore fan who’s been through the rollercoaster of emotions Wednesday has put me through since 2023, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and dread at the thought of Season 2. Jenna Ortega‘s portrayal of Wednesday Addams is nothing short of brilliant, and the addition of stars like Lady Gaga, Christopher Lloyd, and Joanna Lumley only adds to the anticipation.

Netflix unveiled an exclusive, first-time picture of Ortega playing the lead role in the second season of ‘Wednesday’, marking the completion of filming for the second season.

The next installment of the Tim Burton-executive produced series is coming in 2025.

In a conversation with Netflix’s Tudum, showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar revealed that the upcoming second season will delve deeper into the intriguing tales of the Addams Family. They can’t wait to unveil an extraordinary assortment of fresh characters in this new chapter.

In September, Netflix revealed a sneak peek of the upcoming season at a live fan gathering in Atlanta. The video showcased the original actors such as Ortega, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones, along with Thing (Victor Dorobantu), revisiting the Nevermore Academy set once more.

For season two, the show has assembled a roster of well-known stars: Lady Gaga, Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo. Notably, Christopher Lloyd played the role of Uncle Fester in the 1991 Addams Family movie.

Filming for the second season of ‘Wednesday’ kicked off in May, a shift from the first season which was predominantly filmed in Romania. The initial season of this series became Netflix’s most-watched English language program when it launched in 2023, with an impressive 252 million views and a 20-week run on the global Top 10 list. In its first season, Wednesday was tasked with solving the mystery behind the monster causing chaos at Nevermore.
