On October 17th, a Netflix original film directed by Carlo Ledesma from the Philippines will be available for streaming. The initial teaser suggests an intensification of suspense and fear set against the lush tropical backdrop.
The story unfolds in a secluded region of the Philippines, characterized by tiny hamlets, rice paddies, and sugar cane fields. It follows a family’s struggle to escape a zombie pandemic by retreating to the father’s rural homestead, where they work hard to fortify the property against “The Undead.
As a gamer diving into this thrilling zombie flick, it’s not just about the undead chases that grab your attention. The movie delves into heavy themes like intergenerational trauma and abuse, providing a deep, emotional layer to the storyline. Sid Lucero plays the tormented father, Beauty Gonzalez portrays the resilient mother, while Marco Masa and Aiden Patdu bring the fear of their characters to life as our terrified sons.
Ledesma boasts a background steeped in horror, famously directing the Australian cult hit found-footage horror film titled “The Tunnel” (released in 2011).
