Netflix’s Demon City Is Great, But There’s One Upsetting Moment I Wish I’d Had A Heads Up About

❗️Be aware! This information reveals a key moment from the beginning of the action film ‘Demon City’. Watch it via a Netflix subscription, but proceed cautiously if you prefer not to be spoiled!

2025 has seen Netflix making a powerful debut with some outstanding action series, and “Ad Vitam” was the standout hit to launch the year. The momentum carries on with the introduction of “Demon City”, a Japanese revenge thriller that tells the story of a hitman seeking retribution against multiple criminals who wronged him. Although I anticipated it would be violent, one particular scene left me feeling queasy, and in hindsight, I wish I’d been warned about its graphic nature beforehand.

If you find yourself affected by distressing content and prefer advance notice before watching Netflix films with potentially upsetting scenes, I am here to assist you. The movie Demon City, for instance, is a captivating foreign production that comes with an English dubbing option for viewers who prefer it over subtitles. However, I should warn you about one scene involving a child which I found disturbing upon my initial viewing.

Demon City Features A Pretty Violent Scene With A Young Child

If you’re the kind of audience member who found it distressing when John Wick’s pet passed away, brace yourself for the emotional rollercoaster that awaits you in Demon City. The protagonist, Shûhei Sakata, a seasoned hitman, experiences a common plotline among contract killers – his last assignment intended to ensure a peaceful life for his loved ones turns sour. To his dismay, he encounters a secretive gang of Yakuza criminals at home, who make it clear that escaping their grasp will not be an option.

After that, his wife gets hit with a bullet to the head, and when their little girl attempts to flee, one of the hoodlums points his firearm, resulting in her collapsing weakly on the ground.

Or simply:
His wife is fatally shot in the head, causing their young daughter to try to escape, but one of the thugs shoots her too, leaving her motionless on the ground.

Before becoming a parent, I hadn’t been fond of films depicting violence against children. Now, as a parent myself, such scenes are incredibly difficult to watch. Instead, I prefer stories where kids outsmart adults, like in Home Alone. However, the scene where a character’s wife dies was also distressing, but the way the child is treated adds an extra layer of brutality that lingers in my mind even after watching.

Demon City Is A Brutal Movie All Around And Worth The Watch

For quite some time now, I’ve been seeking a story that would satisfy my craving for a well-crafted revenge thriller. Having shared TopMob’s viewpoint regarding the remake of The Crow as a disappointing attempt, Demon City has managed to fill that void for me perfectly. The similarities between the protagonist, who loses everything and is left for dead, only to regain supernatural powers in order to exact revenge on his tormentors, are striking.

As a movie enthusiast, let me share my thoughts on the pulse-pounding action flick, “Demon City”. While it might be a bit premature to crown it as one of the greatest action movies ever made, I must admit that it’s comfortably nestled among the top contenders of this year. If the rest of the year’s releases fail to match its intensity and innovation, then “Demon City” could very well find itself on my best-of list come December.

The movie offers a series of intriguing plot twists and turns that I wouldn’t dream of spoiling for those who are yet to stream it. So, if you’re in the mood for an adrenaline rush with a side of mystery, “Demon City” is definitely worth checking out!

Keep monitoring Netflix this year for exciting new releases, as an array of films are on the horizon. The service has already impressed me quite a bit, particularly with its foreign productions. So, don’t shy away from watching something just because it lacks well-known Hollywood actors.
