Netflix’s New Releases Coming in August 2024

As a voracious consumer of media, I find myself utterly captivated by the plethora of new releases gracing our screens this August! From the sultry tones of “I Can’t Live Without You” to the gripping narrative of “A Discovery of Witches”, it seems as though there’s something for everyone.

Emily remains in Paris, Zack Snyder presents his newest “Snyder Version”, the Hargreeves offspring must save the world once more, The Terminator transitions into animation, and an array of AMC treasures are among the standouts for a bustling month of fresh content on Netflix.

Starting August 1st, I’ll be diving into the six-episode mystery thriller, “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder,” streaming on Netflix. In this series, the talented Emma Myers, who nails a convincing British accent, takes on the role of a teen detective. This character unravels a cold case from a small English village that occurred years ago, all based on Holly Jackson’s best-selling YA novel. The show was masterfully created by Poppy Coogan and boasts a cast including Zain Iqbal, Asha Banks, Matthew Baynton, Gary Beadle, and Anna Maxwell Martin – it’s got a definite Miss Marple feel to it. So, mark your calendars, fellow mystery enthusiasts, as we embark on this intriguing journey together!

Looking forward to replicating the “Snyder Cut” enchantment on August 2, Netflix will debut director’s cut editions of Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire” and “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver”. These director’s cut versions are rated R, so be prepared for significantly increased violence and gore, especially surrounding the Admiral Noble character played by Ed Skrein. Additionally, you can expect more scenes that flesh out the world and provide a richer backdrop.

Starting August 8th, the fourth and concluding season of Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy” will be released. Once more, the extraordinary Hargreeves siblings are entrusted with the duty of saving the world. After a climactic battle at Hotel Oblivion in the previous season, they navigate through time. This season, comprising six episodes, introduces Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and David Cross to the cast.

On August 15th, it’s confirmed that Emily, along with Mindy, Gabriel, Camille, Sylvie, Luc, Julien, and Alfie, are all still in Paris, as the popular Netflix series Emily in Paris starts its fourth season. The new season continues from where the wedding of Camille (played by Camille Razat) and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) left off, with Emily (portrayed by Lily Collins) grappling with her emotions as she has deep feelings for both Gabriel and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount). The fourth season of Emily in Paris will be divided into two segments, each consisting of five episodes. The first part is set to debut on August 15th, while the second part will follow on September 12th.

On August 19th, Netflix will debut a variety of AMC originals as part of a significant agreement between the two companies. AMC refers to this deal as a carefully chosen collection of series that will be accessible for a year. The initial releases include season one of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, season one of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, season one of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, season one of Monsieur Spade, seasons one to three of A Discovery of Witches, seasons one and two of Dark Winds, seasons one through eight of Fear the Walking Dead, seasons one and two of Gangs of London, seasons one to three of Into the Badlands, seasons one and two of Kevin Can F*** Himself, seasons one through four of Preacher, season one of That Dirty Black Bag, and season one of The Terror.

Beginning August 29th, the beloved Terminator series will resurface on Netflix with a fresh start titled Terminator Zero. This eight-episode animated series marks the first time the franchise has ventured into animation and is produced by Japanese studio Production IG under the direction of Masashi Kudo. The story follows Eiko, who travels back in time to safeguard scientist Malcolm Lee as he creates Kokoro, a sophisticated artificial intelligence designed as a counterpart to the harmful Skynet. Familiar voices such as André Holland, Ann Dowd, Timothy Olyphant, and Rosario Dawson bring this new tale to life.

New films arriving on Netflix in August are: Fury, Godzilla (Black and White Version), Jack Reacher, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Monster House, Mr. Deeds, The Next Karate Kid, The Emoji Movie, RED, RED 2, Room, Save the Last Dance, The Spectacular Now, Tarot, White Chicks, and World War Z.
