Netflix’s One Piece Just Showed Off One Of Its Monstrous Characters For Season 2, And It’s Getting Me More Excited For Chopper’s Introduction

Even though One Piece Season 2 won’t quite reach the thrilling Alabasta saga, there are still many exciting moments to anticipate in this upcoming set of episodes focusing on Monkey D. Luffy and his crew. Among these, we’ll meet Tony Tony Chopper, a unique character who is part human, part reindeer and will serve as the Straw Hat Pirates’ doctor. Though we haven’t seen a full reveal yet since last September, one of Season 2’s fearsome characters has been previewed in a new video, which only heightens my anticipation for how Chopper will be portrayed in the Netflix-exclusive series.

One of the other key characters in the Drum Island storyline that introduces Chopper is Dalton, who’s being played by Ty Keogh in the live-action One Piece. Keogh briefly discussed his time working on the Netflix series in a video posted on Instagram and other social platforms, but take note of the bison head prop that’s on the table to the right behind him:

As a fellow fan diving into the captivating world of One Piece, allow me to offer some background for those who haven’t delved into the manga or watched the anime yet. In this extraordinary series, I was among the pioneers to consume a Zoan-type Devil Fruit – a unique category of these mystical artifacts that grants the eater the ability to transform into an animal. My specific fruit is known as the Ox-Ox Fruit, Bison Form, which allows me to morph into a full-bodied bison or a hybrid form, half-human and half-bison.

It’s clear that some parts of the bison in “Dalton’s One Piece” are created using practical effects, which might explain why Ty Keogh wants to take home the bison head as a unique souvenir from working on such an exceptional Netflix series. Despite its eerie aspect, it certainly makes for a captivating keepsake. However, I also suspect that computer-generated imagery (CGI) will be employed to enhance the appearance of Dalton’s transformed state, making it even more convincing for viewers.

Looking at Dalton’s bison head art excites me even more about how Chopper will appear in the live-action One Piece. Eating the Human-Human Fruit grants him the ability to transform from his natural reindeer form into a full human or hybrid, and he also gained human-level intelligence. The earlier teaser hinted at Chopper’s appearance using CGI for his smaller stature, which is reasonable. However, for his towering human form, there might be an actor wearing a practical costume in a similar style.

It seems like “One Piece” Season 2 might be postponed from the 2025 TV schedule to 2026 instead. There’s a hint that Season 3 could be coming too, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet. Regardless, we can’t wait to see more of Chopper’s story unfold as soon as possible!
