Netmarble’s Marvel Future Fight Should Get a Console Port

The launch of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 on Nintendo Switch was a satisfying one, offering players an engaging action RPG filled with rich content and high replay value. Despite some challenges with sudden difficulty increases and tedious grinding, it was a successful revival for the Ultimate Alliance series, leaving fans eagerly anticipating future installments.

Although many fans, including us, are eagerly anticipating Ultimate Alliance 4, it’s important to remember that Marvel Future Fight from Netmarble is still active. Despite being a mobile game with gacha elements, its beat-em-up gameplay and wide array of characters are noteworthy. The game offers numerous characters in both MCU and comic book costumes, which warrants serious consideration for a console port.

While it may not have the same level of refinement as a game from the Ultimate Alliance series, Marvel Future Fight still offers many appealing aspects. The extensive character lineup includes fan-favorites such as Iron Man, Captain America, and even X-Men stalwarts like Wolverine. Interestingly, the game has recently been updated to incorporate Daredevil: Born Again, introducing fresh characters and costumes associated with this series.

Since it’s intended as a long-term mobile game, there are now numerous characters that players can accumulate. Although this is a gacha game, some characters can be easily acquired and the game often provides ample in-game currency. While it may seem like an attempt to extract money from the player, those who stick with it for a while can gather many heroes without spending a dime.

Investing considerable time and energy into gacha games can be exhausting, as many Zenless Zone Zero enthusiasts can attest. Consequently, the idea of a console port for Marvel Future Fight would undoubtedly pique interest. Given the success of Marvel Rivals as a superhero shooter, it’s plausible that Netmarble might continue offering Marvel Future Fight free-of-charge on consoles and PC platforms. Many fans may express a preference for a one-off payment option instead of being inundated with ads and currency within the game. However, since this is a gacha game, it’s not unreasonable to anticipate minimal changes in that regard.

To ensure the longevity of Marvel Future Fight, we’d lean towards a single-player mode that lets players progressively unlock characters. While it might be challenging given the vast number of characters in the game, they could consider simplifying the process or reintroducing some characters as downloadable content. Additionally, it would be delightful if a new update schedule were implemented for an Ultimate Alliance game, providing players with regular content updates, similar to Marvel Future Fight.

As a devoted fan, I must say that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 certainly delivered with new rifts to conquer and costumes to unveil. However, it felt like the game’s main content was somewhat limited, with just three character packs and an additional story available as paid DLC. The prices were fair, but it didn’t feel like there was much more to explore. This is why we, the fans, are eagerly awaiting the announcement of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 4 on the Switch 2.

Should Marvel Future Fight eventually conclude, we aspire for a standalone offline version of the game to carry on its legacy. Just like Mega Man X Dive and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, they offered paid offline modes after their online versions ceased operation, so an analogous solution for Future Fight would be most fitting.
