Back in 1985, New Balance unveiled one of their top-tier offerings – the iconic 1300 sneaker. Since then, it’s held onto that prestigious title and even earned a spot among the brand’s scarcest models, making an appearance every five years. Can you imagine? It’s been five long years since its last release! But here’s some exciting news – New Balance’s MADE in USA division is getting ready to bring it back next month as part of their annual “Grey Days” celebration. I, for one, can hardly wait!

Every year, I appreciate the artistry in the design, where a mesh upper harmonizes with nubuck overlays, creating a serene blend of blue and brown tones. The full-length ENCAP midsole cushioning is cleverly concealed beneath a crisp white exterior, while a black outsole provides traction for each step I take. A touch of white leather adorns the heel tab and lining, with the tongue showcasing a woven “1300” label. To top it off, each pair arrives in special edition packaging that echoes the original 1985 shoe box design, making every step a nod to tradition.

On May 29th, the New Balance MADE in USA collection will reintroduce the 1300JP model through various retail outlets globally. At present, this shoe is displayed on their official website with an initial price tag of $300 USD; though, it’s important to note that this figure may be revised upwards according to the brand’s official press release, which suggests a retail price of $330 USD.
