1964 saw The Beatles making their debut in America, solidifying their control over worldwide pop culture – an era famously known as “Beatlemania.” A crucial part of this historic tour was their live performance on the Ed Sullivan Show, which attracted a staggering 73 million viewers, making it the most-watched television event to date.
Unseen footage of iconic band members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison will be unveiled in an upcoming film, providing a more intimate perspective than ever before. The documentarians Albert and David Maysles’ videos have been restored to 4K resolution, enabling fans to witness the groundbreaking band like never before, in exceptional clarity.
On November 22nd, a remastered set of seven vinyl albums called “The Beatles: 1964 U.S. Albums in Mono” will make their comeback ahead of the streaming premiere. These albums, which include the popular soundtrack album “A Hard Day’s Night,” have not been available for purchase since they went out of print in 1995, but now they will return to stores for the first time in over two decades.
The Oscar-winning director is also known for creating a documentary on George Harrison that came out in 2011, along with two separate documentaries focusing on musician Bob Dylan.
