New Book Spotlights the Impact Black Footballers Have Had on the Beautiful Game

As a gamer with a deep appreciation for football and a keen interest in social justice issues, I find the upcoming book “Are We Allowed to Just Dream?” by David Adekoya of LadderBoyz incredibly captivating. The unique blend of archival photography, art, design, and poetic storytelling is not only visually stunning but also thought-provoking.

“Can We Simply Ponder About It?: An Examination of Black Footballers‘ Influence on Soccer’s Blossoming and Cultural Shifts” – This book, penned by David Adekoya of LadderBoyz, delves into the significant role that Black footballers have played in the evolution of the captivating sport known as football, as well as the broader ripples they’ve created within culture.

The narrative is organized into five parts – Beauty, Gift, Imagination, Action, and Celebration. Each segment combines historical photography, artistic expression, and design, interwoven with lyrical narratives to honor individuals who have significantly influenced modern football. Simultaneously, it aims to shed light on the difficulties encountered by the Black community, both on the field and in society.

According to LadderBoyz, this book is a “tribute to the champions who ignited our dreams, despite facing public criticism, being undervalued, excluded, neglected, betrayed, and mocked by those who were expected to stand by them – the fans and institutions.

As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the inspiring project, LadderBoyz, is currently in its fundraising phase. To see this dream become a tangible reality, we need 1,000 orders for the upcoming book titled “Are We Allowed to Just Dream?“. If you’re keen on being part of this journey and owning a copy, I’m delighted to inform you that it is now available for pre-order at $89 USD. Let’s unite in making this dream a reality!
