New James Bond May Have Been Found as Betting Suspended on Next 007

As a long-time James Bond fan, I have been following the speculation surrounding the next 007 with bated breath. Having grown up watching Daniel Craig bring the iconic character to life, it was difficult to imagine anyone else stepping into those shoes. However, as a realist, I know that change is inevitable and that new blood is needed to keep the franchise fresh and exciting.

Discussions about who might succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond are heating up once more, given the recent suspension of bets on the new Bond by bookmakers, Metro reports. At the time of his casting, Craig was an unexpected choice for the role, with many critics voicing their disapproval even before his first movie was released. However, after Casino Royale hit the screens, any concerns were quickly allayed. Now, it’s up to a new actor to maintain the Bond legacy, and while speculation continues, the betting pause could imply that the bookies might possess some exclusive knowledge, hinting that the next Bond may already have been selected.

After Idris Elba, who was a strong contender for the role of James Bond following Daniel Craig’s exit in 2021’s “No Time to Die,” announced he wouldn’t be pursuing the part, the question remains: Who else could potentially step into the iconic role? While Elba would have been an excellent choice, his decision leaves us wondering who might take on the mantle of 007 next.

Who Are the Top Contenders for the Next James Bond?

Another frequently discussed contender for the Bond role is Kraven the Hunter and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is a favorite of director David Leitch. In Leitch’s recent action film “Bullet Train,” Taylor-Johnson showcased an abundance of style that often evoked Bond-like qualities (although it would be a more unscrupulous and bloodthirsty version of 007). However, when whispers circulated in March that he had agreed to the role, they turned out to be false.

As a devoted cinephile, I must say that the names buzzing around as potential candidates are RegĂ©-Jean Page, Damson Idris, Theo James, Leo Woodall, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Each one of them would undeniably fit the role perfectly. Their charisma, good looks, and burgeoning stardom make them strong contenders for a role in a major franchise such as James Bond. It’s tough to pick a favorite, as they all seem equally promising.

As a devoted cinephile, I’ve been closely following the odds, and it seems that Taylor-Johnson remains the front-runner with chances around 4/5. However, let’s not forget about Kraven the Hunter, as its success could be a game-changer. Actors don’t usually join Marvel properties for just one film, even if it’s set outside the MCU. The latest trailer for the R-rated actioner has received some positive feedback, which suggests that it will at least surpass the modest expectations of Madame Web. If it becomes a surprise hit, its sequel might become my main focus due to contractual obligations.

If he’s not available for the role, then Page could be an excellent replacement, having gained fame swiftly on ‘Bridgerton’ and exhibiting charm in ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’. Idris (Damson Idris) is another possibility due to his upcoming movie with Brad Pitt, which may increase his visibility. James is a likable actor who can portray tough characters, as demonstrated in Guy Ritchie’s adaptation of ‘The Gentlemen’, but there’s a contractual obligation to consider due to the confirmed second season. Woodall might appear in the fourth ‘Bridget Jones’ movie, but he seems to be the least likely choice among them.

Our figurative money’s on either Taylor-Johnson or Page, but don’t count out James. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see, but it sure sounds like we could be close to finding out who will be chosen to don the iconic tux.
