New Juggernaut Unleashed: His Secret Origin Will Shock You!

Marvel Comics’ Kid Juggernaut has finally gotten his origin story in print for the very first time.

In the initial issue of “Kid Juggernaut” #1, we find young Justin Jin enjoying an uneventful day at home. However, his peaceful routine is disrupted when his mother requires assistance in managing their store, as she attends to legal matters concerning their late father’s estate. A parcel addressed to him arrives, containing items sent from Korea. While the photographs and books are intriguing, they pale in comparison to a mysterious tasseled gem Justin unearths. This seemingly ordinary stone holds an extraordinary power, transforming Justin into a unique form of Juggernaut.

Introduced in the digital-only Marvel Voices Infinity Comic #100 by Anthony Oliveira and Minkyu Jing in 2024, the character of Jin Joon-Sung (also known as Justin Jin) is a Korean native born to Hae-Ran Jin, a former waitress, and Jung-Woo Jin. After moving to Canada, they established a small bakery where they found success, but their marriage did not endure the same luck. When the couple divorced, Jung-Woo went back to Korea, and upon his passing, he passed on to his son the key to a long-held family secret that had significantly contributed to his struggles.

It was revealed that Jung-Woo was actually the son of Jin Moon-Ho, once a devoted follower of Cyttorak known as the Juggernaut. In New Excalibur #15 (2007), written by Frank Tieri and illustrated by Jim Calafiore, we find that Jin had been loyal to Cyttorak until he was given an unbearable command. When Cyttorak instructed Jin to side with the Japanese forces occupying Korea, conflict arose. The situation escalated when Cyttork demanded Jin destroy his own village, which Jin refused to do. As a result, Cain Marko, drawn to the Temple of Cyttorak, defeated Jin and seized his former role by lethal means.

Ever since his initial appearance, Kid Juggernaut has teamed up with two different groups of youthful superheroes. One of these teams consisted of his classmates from Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, a school that was reopened by Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers, herself.

In this class called “Reformed,” we have Aaron Fischer, famously known as Captain America of the Railways, Shela Sexton, who goes by Escapade, Lunella Lafayette, recognized as Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Normie Osborn, better known as the Red Goblin, and Brielle Brooks, more commonly called Bloodline. Additionally, Kid Juggernaut briefly collaborated with the New Champions, who are mostly from Hydra’s previous “superhero” team, The Assembly, which was once known as The Assembly.

Kid Juggernaut #1 will be available April 30 from Marvel Comics.
