As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher, I can confidently say that the upcoming streaming lineup is nothing short of a dream come true! With December almost over, it’s time to huddle up by the hearth (or perhaps under a blanket fort) and immerse myself in some top-tier entertainment.
Almost all of December is behind us now. We’re nearing the time for festive gatherings, often around the TV. If you’re planning ahead, the top-notch streaming platforms offer some great content to help you kick off the winter season.
What’s coming soon on Netflix and Max includes a pair of potential awards season contenders. What’s upcoming on Disney+ is a double dose of animation, of two very different kinds. Hulu has more Law & Order than you’ll know what to do with, and Peacock brings the funny.
New TV
Law & Order Seasons 1- 20 – December 16 (Hulu)
If you’re on the hunt for a series to immerse yourself in for quite some time, I’ve got an excellent recommendation! The first 20 seasons of “Law & Order”, spanning its entire original broadcast before its recent 2022 revival, would be an ideal choice. This means you’ll get plenty of Jerry Orbach and maximize your Hulu subscription to the fullest.

The Simpsons Christmas Double Episode “O C’mon All Ye Faithful” December 17 (Disney+)
Since Disney acquired Fox, The Simpsons have become a major draw for having a Disney+ subscription. Not only can you watch all past seasons of the show, but there are also exclusive animated shorts produced just for the streaming service. This holiday season, excitement grows even larger with a special double-length episode premiering exclusively on Disney+ for Christmas!

Laid, Season 1 – December 19 (Peacock)
In an Australian television show titled “Laid“, Oscar-nominated actress Stephanie Hsu plays a character who finds herself in a peculiar situation as her former lovers mysteriously start meeting untimely deaths. This unexpected turn of events compels her to delve into her past sexual encounters, confront and reconcile with them, and revisit each of her previous relationships.

Marvel Animation’s What If…? (Season 3) December 22 (Disney+)
One intriguing and imaginative nook within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the animated series, What If…?. This show alters storylines from the MCU films and shows by presenting them in unique ways. The third and concluding season of What If……premiers on Sunday, with a fresh episode dropping daily until just before the New Year.
New Movies

The Six Triple Eight December 20 (Netflix)
Under the direction and screenplay by Tyler Perry, “The Six Triple Eight” unfolds as the narrative of the unique women’s Army Corps unit active during World War II. Kerry Washington takes center stage in this latest production. Starting from this week, the movie can be watched with a Netflix subscription after a short stint in theaters to meet the criteria for Awards season contention.

Juror #2 – December 20 (Max)
Before he assumes the role of Lex Luthor in next year’s “Superman” film, Nicholas Hoult plays a man sitting on a jury, where he holds more knowledge about the case than he reveals. Directed by Clint Eastwood, who may have made his final film, the movie initially went unnoticed in cinemas. However, those who watched “Juror #2” seemed to appreciate it, and now it will be accessible to a broader audience.
Next week will bring us Christmas and with it many different holiday specials and celebrations.
