NFL Champions Vernon Davis, Omar Bolden to Star in Mockumentary ‘Match Point’ (Exclusive)

As a seasoned gamer with a knack for appreciating sports-related content and a soft spot for a good comedy, I’m genuinely thrilled about the upcoming series, Match Point. The blend of former NFL stars Vernon Davis and Omar Bolden alongside a talented cast in a mockumentary format is bound to deliver an entertaining experience that transcends the typical sports narrative.

Former NFL standouts Vernon Davis and Omar Bolden are tackling a new path.

The duo, who were both part of the Denver Broncos when they clinched Super Bowl 50 in 2016, are all set to feature in the comedy series titled “Match Point“. This mockumentary series, directed by Joslyn Rose Lyons, who has been nominated for a Sports Emmy, will debut its first two episodes on Apple TV and Prime Video on February 11, 2025. The remainder of the 10-episode first season will be released following that date.

The show Match Point revolves around Max (Davis) and Anthony (Bolden), ex-tennis pros who team up to manage a fresh podcast. The narrative unfolds as they strive to debut the podcast with the help of a tense producer (Ashley Haas) and an audience-fixated talent scout (Rob Gordon). Amidst their struggles with overbearing bosses and a problematic staff, they navigate their way through it all.

Davis, Lyons, Johanna Saldaña, and Dominique Mouton act as the executive producers for the film titled “Match Point“. You can watch a trailer for this movie, provided by Filmhub, in the video section that follows.

According to series creator and director Lyons, the goal was to develop a project that provides entertainment while also innovating storytelling techniques. This is achieved by combining mockumentary with new media, as well as breaking the fourth wall. As artists, we value the liberty of expression, using humor to reveal deeper truths and encouraging viewers to find hope in the most unconventional settings.

Davis expresses his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m thrilled about the mix of comedy and mockumentary style in this project – it’s an innovative approach to podcasting that’s truly unprecedented. Gathering us all in this format promises a singular experience, and I can hardly wait for audiences to savor it.

After hanging up my NFL jersey following the 2019 season, I’ve stepped into the spotlight as an entertainment personality. Recently, you might have seen me on the dance floor of Dancing With the Stars during season 29. As for my acting roles, I’ve had the honor to work alongside Morgan Freeman in The Ritual Killer and share the screen with Jon Heder in Plan B.
