If you enjoy seeing NHL players showing enthusiasm after scoring a goal, then you’re going to love this! (or) Here’s something exciting for fans who love the energetic reactions of NHL players when they score a goal:
Beginning this coming Saturday, the league is set to debut a weekly youth-focused animated series that will summarize recent games. This program will be broadcast in the United States on NHL Network, in Canada on Sportsnet, and worldwide on the NHL’s YouTube channel, as announced on Thursday.
The opening installment will showcase a repeat of the Vancouver Canucks’ thrilling 2-1 win against Alex Ovechkin’s Washington Capitals on January 25th. This memorable match saw two impressive goals scored by star defenseman Quinn Hughes.
Every week, you’ll get to experience a thrilling 30-minute match within the realm of our animated NHL game, featuring realistic player avatars that mirror actual athletes. These avatars are powered by cutting-edge NHL EDGE Positional Data, offering an immersive and dynamic representation of on-ice action.
The high-speed event will take after the well-liked Winter Classic and Stadium Series games from the NHL. It will showcase the players competing outdoors, mirroring the spirit and charm typical of Canadian urban landscapes.
In this innovative approach, you’ll encounter distinctive camera perspectives, such as views from within a helmet, and teenage commentators who are also avatars will be providing commentary on the game. They’ll share entertaining insights, facts, and anecdotes to enrich your viewing experience. The aim is to deepen the connection between young fans and families with the NHL, as stated by David Lehanski, NHL executive vice president of business development & innovation.
Previously, the NHL has produced animated games at both national and local levels, but this time they’re stepping things up. Similar to NFL broadcast partners who have showcased live football games with animation inspired by films like Toy Story, The Simpsons, and Nickelodeon series, as well as Major League Baseball and the NBA, who have also aired animated games. This new development is taking it to a higher level.
