As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with a penchant for the bizarre, I must say, Nicholas Hoult‘s tale from the set of Nosferatu has left me utterly enthralled! The man has not only starred in but also become an unwitting curator of a unique artifact – Court Orlok’s prosthetic penis. Now, that’s a conversation starter if ever there was one!
Nicholas Hoult shared which prop from the Nosferatu film set is kept at his home, though he did not personally bring it with him.
In an exclusive chat with my on-screen spouse Lily-Rose Depp for Elle Magazine, I found myself answering prewritten questions as husband and wife. When she inquired about a prop or costume piece I’ve kept from set, I shared that a recent memento was graciously given by director Robert Eggers of ‘Nosferatu’.
He shared with Depp that he has a framed replica of Court Orlok’s prosthetic penis at home. During a scene where Bill Skarsgard was drinking his blood, Robert Eggers asked him afterwards how he found it, and he replied that he could feel the prosthetic penis of Skarsgard against his leg. As a parting gift, Eggers had it framed and sent it to his house.
Upon receiving the eagerly awaited “gift,” I found that the frame was shattered, so I, as The Great, had to venture out to a nearby framing store to have it mended.
The first time, the clerk didn’t seem to bat an eye, Hoult remembered. Upon returning to collect it later, Hoult felt he might have realized how unusual it was to be framing what resembled a vampire’s penis. The clerk then asked, ‘Is this perhaps a collector’s item?’ To which Hoult replied, ‘Well, you could see it that way.’
This year’s adaptation of “Nosferatu” features Johnny Depp, Amber Heard (Emma Corrin), and Alexander Skarsgård along with Willem Dafoe and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in its star-studded cast. The story revolves around a chilling romance between Depp’s tormented character and the terrifying vampire played by Skarsgård, who is captivated by her, as suggested by the synopsis.
Hoult will next be seen on the big screen as Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman.
Earlier in the discussion, The Idol star inquired about who among the members of the Man of Steel group chat was the most active, speculating that it might just be him.
He confessed that he’s not particularly active in group chats as they make him feel a bit anxious. However, Nathan Fillion excels in these settings due to his abundant collection of self-GIFs. Moreover, the chat is delightful because members celebrate each other’s birthdays with heartwarming renditions of “Happy Birthday,” taking turns and exchanging voice notes, which is a really thoughtful touch.
