Nigo, renowned for his influence in fashion, has been named as the creative director for FamilyMart, a popular Japanese convenience store chain. This new role will see him guiding the overall strategy of FamilyMart, with responsibilities spanning visual branding, collaborative projects, strategic product categories, and the creative design of future stores.
As per FamilyMart’s Director and President Kensuke Hosomi, he expresses his delight about their collaboration with globally recognized creative figure NIGO. He notes that this partnership aligns perfectly with FamilyMart’s ethos of embracing challenges as a convenience store. The goal is to enrich Japan’s distinct identity alongside NIGO and aspire to be a beloved global convenience store, much like a cherished family, by successfully implementing the concept of ‘togetherness’ in future daily life experiences.
NIGO aims to boost the international image of Japanese convenience stores using the FamilyMart brand. With plans for collaborations spanning various industries, NIGO notes that convenience stores (konbini) encapsulate Japan’s distinctive lifestyle and culture. He appreciates FamilyMart’s respect for creativity and its commitment to innovation, making their collaboration on February 5, 2025, a significant milestone. Together, he hopes to enhance the daily lives of people in Japan and worldwide with joy.
NIGO and FamilyMart’s first collaboration is expected to drop in Spring 2026.
