As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share Nina Dobrev‘s heartfelt words about her experiences during the Los Angeles wildfires. Despite her home being situated near the fires, it miraculously survived the ordeal, leaving her grappling with survivor’s guilt.
Actress Nina Dobrev, known for her role in The Vampire Diaries, shared a video on Instagram over the weekend detailing how she had to leave her home on her birthday, January 9th, due to approaching wildfires. Fortunately, Dobrev’s house was near one of the fires but managed to survive. However, she expressed concern for others who weren’t as fortunate.
In this heartfelt video, I’ve shared my deep anguish over the widespread destruction and misery these fires have brought upon countless families. Frankly, it’s left me reeling with a heavy sense of survivor’s guilt, wondering if I could’ve done more to help.

Debrov expressed that instead of celebrating her birthday, she had to evacuate her home due to the fire, which wasn’t part of her plans. She asked her supporters to consider donating and helping the wildfire victims in lieu of gifts for her “birthday request.
She mentioned that what’s crucial at this moment is monetary assistance to enable individuals to regain stability, restore their lives, and reconstruct their homes. The Pacific Palisades area, specifically the Altadena-Pasadena community, seems to require this aid the most.
Dobrev mentioned a Google spreadsheet in her Instagram bio, which lists families who lost their homes due to fires. She suggested that for her birthday this year, people could donate to these families, making it her birthday wish. She encouraged her followers to give whatever they can afford, be it small or large donations, to aid in the recovery process.
On January 7th, the devastating wildfires that broke out in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, rapidly spread to multiple locations nearby. Tragically, at least 27 lives have been claimed by these fires, with countless others forced to leave or lose their homes. Regrettably, many well-known celebrities also lost their residences during this disaster.
Dobrev commented, “I imagine what it must be like for everyone who has lost their homes to flames, along with their possessions, cherished memories, and sense of security. Their insurance has let them down too.” She continued, “The depth of sorrow for some is beyond words, and it’s truly difficult to fully understand the scale of their loss.
In her post’s title, Debrov mentioned that a specific area in the Altadena community’s spreadsheet was set aside for black families and historically underserved groups who have been significantly impacted. She ended the video with a sincere message, expressing that healing is often a lengthy process, and she sends lots of love to everyone involved.
