In the fifth chapter of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, I find myself stepping into the role usually held by Ryu – Momiji’s turn to take center stage this time around.
Instead of having numerous weapons to change like Ryu does, she only possesses a single one, so you must utilize it effectively to be successful.
This particular section is relatively brief, lasting approximately 15 to 20 minutes, however, the battles become increasingly challenging as you progress.
This article contains all the essential information you require to conquer Chapter 5, covering enemies, bosses, and everything else along the way.
How To Complete Chapter 5
The second you’re in, head right for the bridge.
Enemies show up fast, so don’t let your guard down.
As a big fan of Momiji, I’ve found that her Naginata shines particularly well in taking down groups of foes. Her broad sweeps are perfect for managing multiple adversaries simultaneously.
Once they’re down, head for the staircase on the right.
Before venturing upward, don’t forget to open the box at the end of the bridge; it contains some Grains of Spiritual Life – a useful healing aid that you might find beneficial to carry with you.
A flame archer is hanging out at the top of the stairs, so be ready for some long-range attacks.
Use your bow to take them down from a distance and avoid unnecessary damage.
Once the archer’s down, the door behind them unlocks, letting you move forward.
Head forward into an open space overlooking the city, but don’t expect the peace to last.
A new wave of enemies, including flame archers and teleporting ninjas, will keep the fight going.
Be cautious as these foes can be deceptive; constantly move and utilize Momiji’s double jump to dodge being cornered instead.
Once you’ve defeated all your opponents, you’ll encounter the Blue Black Spider Tengu, which is a brief mid-level battle.
Unlike regular enemies, this enemy has unique attack patterns.
Because his high jumps make it hard to accurately target him, it’s advisable to evade and adjust your position once he begins to jump.

When swirling chaos engulfs him like a tornado, it’s my cue to step aside or risk some heavy consequences.
Alternatively, you won’t need to take him down completely – inflict sufficient harm instead, and the battle will come to an early close, allowing you to move forward.
Now that the Tengu is gone, head through the open gate on the right.
Moving a short distance ahead, you’ll come across a chest on your left side. Inside it lies an Herb of Spiritual Life, which could aid in healing.
Or simply:
Ahead, there’s a chest on the left with a healing herb for spiritual life inside. If you move forward, you’ll find it.
You’ll come across a blue dragon save statue pretty soon, so go ahead and save it.
As soon as you enter the next building, an enemy attacks, so don’t lower your guard.
Once you’re done with them, move to the other side of the room and retrieve a box close to the sewer outlet. Within it, you’ll find yet another Herb of Spiritual Life.
As we progress, you’ll reach a recognizable spot, but make sure to veer right just before the primary bridge to stumble upon a secret treasure trove instead.
Inside, you’ll find Grains of Spiritual Life, which could come in clutch for the final battle.
Afterward, you’ll encounter a large red bridge, marking the location for another battle. Defeat the opponents there, and don’t forget to stop by Muramasa’s store located close to the bridge on your way.
It’s your final opportunity to replenish your supplies of consumables, so if you find yourself running low on healing potions or similar items, this would be an ideal moment to purchase some more.
Cross the bridge and watch for a chest on the stone path before the final area.
A Devil’s Way Mushroom here will top off your Ninpo, so don’t miss it.

When you’re done, return to the main path near the merchant and walk down the candle-lit hallway.
Just as anticipated, additional ninjas appear, drawing you into another brawl. Continue your journey to reach the last dragon statue safe spot prior to the ultimate battle.
With predictability, more ninjas emerge, dragging you straight into a fresh skirmish. Keep on moving towards the last dragon statue save point before engaging in the final fight.
As a devoted reader, I must say that the skirmish against the cunning Tengu brothers, the Black Spider duo – Red and Blue – was undoubtedly the most intricate encounter in this chapter for me.
Previously, we had a short skirmish with the single Blue Tengu, however, this time around, you find yourself facing off against not just one, but two – the Red and Blue Tengus. This significantly escalates the level of chaos in our ongoing battle.
As a dedicated gamer, I find it most effective to zero in on a single opponent at a time. Trying to take down two foes simultaneously can leave you struggling to build any significant advantage or momentum.
In a less confrontational manner, you could say:
When encountering both Tengus, prioritize dealing with the Red one as it tends to be more aggressive. However, don’t forget to monitor the Blue one from afar, as it can pose a threat at a distance.
With Momiji’s Ninpo, you can take out both enemies simultaneously with heavy damage.
Instead, wait for the optimal time to unleash your Ki, which is typically when the Tengu are near each other. This way, the impact will be stronger.
Evading and adjusting your position are equally vital to winning, and finding yourself flanked by two Tengu simultaneously could result in an instant defeat for you.
The true risk lies in their leaps and whirlwind twists, so once they begin ascending, step away and adjust your position instead.

Blocking might work sometimes, but it’s not foolproof—some of their hits can still break through.
Swiftly evade attacks and retaliate when possible. Make sure to utilize your healing supplies whenever it’s appropriate.
In simpler terms, there are no consequences, and your priority should be staying alive. Defeating a Tengu will make the rest of the fight significantly easier to handle.
With just one opponent remaining, I’m seizing this opportunity to bring this battle to an end. This struggle is primarily a test of my patience and ability to persevere.
Instead of diving headfirst, proceed with caution, aim for secure blows, and utilize each chance to inflict damage without taking unneeded risks.
Stay focused, utilize your resources effectively, and strategically time your moves, and victory will be yours in due time.
After wrapping up with the Tengu brothers known as the Black Spiders, when Chapter 5 concludes, I’m ready to dive back into the game, once again stepping into Ryu’s shoes for Chapter 6.
