As a die-hard fan of the ’70s rockers Faces, I’ve been eagerly waiting for news about their upcoming album. A recent interview with one of the band members hinted that it could become a reality soon. However, we might need to exercise some patience before it drops. But hey, if we stick around, there’s a chance we’ll get a stunning visual treat along with the music!
Four years back, a potential new Faces album gained traction following an interview in 2021 where Ronnie Wood hinted at the idea. During that conversation, he mentioned that he, Kenny Jones, and Rod Stewart were planning to collaborate on recording some fresh tunes for their classic band.
At his residence, Wood also has a workspace which was utilized by the trio, with both Wood and Jagger collaborating on some Rolling Stones tunes. It’s likely that a few gatherings or celebrations took place there as well.
Fresh update on a new Faces album being recorded
Despite disbanding in 1975 when Rod Stewart’s solo career flourished, the three original Faces members have maintained a strong friendship over the years. Therefore, a reunion wouldn’t necessarily be a challenging or awkward event.
In the same year, Stewart provided some support for the album’s narrative, acknowledging that approximately 15 songs were already recorded and emphasizing the importance of patience during the process of transforming these songs into an album.
After quite some time, it seems Stewart and Wood have been keeping busy with their music, releasing new albums and going on tours. Given that, it’s understandable why there’s been a delay in our album. However, the topic is once again gaining traction, sparked by a recent interview with our drummer, Jones, who spoke to The Telegraph (subscription required). He shared some updates and hinted at more exciting news on the horizon for us.
Jones shared that approximately eleven songs have been recorded at RAK Studios in North London, with Jools Holland contributing to one of them. Notably, Holland and Stewart worked together on an album titled “Swing Fever,” which was released in 2024.
A smaller number of songs than Stewart cited were discussed, but both he and Jones pointed out that not all might align with a fresh Faces album. As for the schedule, no precise dates have been set, except that it will likely be in or after 2026, as Jones mentioned due to Wood and Stewart’s other engagements.
It seems unlikely that it will be released this year, but I anticipate it coming out next year. Everyone’s working on various projects. We’re doing small segments of recording now and then. Suddenly, The Rolling Stones are back on tour, and Rod is performing again…
As a gamer, I’m super excited about this! The interview hints at a potential documentary that could include never-before-seen footage of Faces from 1972 along with an upcoming album. If we hang in there and wait for the album to be finished, it might just come with this incredible reward! But remember, good things take time, so the album might still be a ways off. But trust me, the classic rock and roll tunes from Faces will make it all worthwhile when they finally drop.
