As a long-time fan of legal dramas and someone who has been following the twists and turns of Matlock since its inception, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement as the show prepares to air its Christmas episode on December 5th. The anticipation is palpable, and my imagination is running wild with speculations about what could happen.
Typically, you’d find a warning about spoilers for this week’s episode of Matlock. But due to the current 2024 TV schedule, we’re currently experiencing a short break for CBS’s popular show starring Kathy Bates, which sadly didn’t air an episode during Thanksgiving.
I’m good with the delay, as it provides additional opportunity for fresh viewers to enjoy our series through Paramount+ subscriptions and delve into the intriguing enigma that lies at its core. Although we missed out on a Thanksgiving special that could have complemented the football games, let’s discuss my expectations for a Christmas episode instead. And yes, I’m confident we’ll be receiving one.
Matlock Was Dark Again On Thanksgiving, But Will Return Next Week
In case you haven’t been informed about the upcoming Jacobson Moore holiday party, I’d like to share that information with you now. Thanks to our very own Laura Hurley, we can look forward to the return of ‘Matlock’ at the start of December. Additionally, Madeline Kingston (Kathy Bates) will be featured in two more cases before the series takes a holiday break.
From An Early Look At Matlock’s Next Episode, The Holidays Are Here
To make things crystal clear, I haven’t had a chance to look over the synopsis for “Belly of the Beast,” Episode 7 of Season 1 from Matlock. If not for seeing a quick peek at some photos, I wouldn’t have realized that we’re indeed getting a Christmas episode – or perhaps even two! I prefer to approach each new installment with a blank mind, which makes missing the “previews for next week” in my advanced screeners quite enjoyable. Here’s what I envision for my perfect Matlock Christmas special!
Olympia Would Probably Invite Matty To Christmas Dinner
Now that I’ve learned we’re going to have a holiday-themed episode of Matlock, what could an engaging summary for such an episode be? For my part, the main plot would surely revolve around Matty Matlock being a single grandmother who has a grandson that dislikes her. As Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) and Julian (Jason Ritter) appear to be on the verge of reconciling their family, there’s a possibility they might extend an invitation for a heartwarming family gathering to Matty and her grandson.
Billy And Sarah’s Matlock Plot Would See Romance On The Rocks
In the “B” storyline, it’s quite likely that the remaining members of Team You Three, Sarah and Billy, could strengthen their budding friendship over a shared meal. Sarah might invite her IT crush Kira to join them, which could create some interesting dynamics. Meanwhile, Billy would probably have his fiancée with him to share in the happiness of the gathering.
“If you mix up disagreements between Billy and his fiancée over Sarah’s actions regarding Kira, coupled with Matty hiding secrets about her, then you’ve got a Matlock holiday episode that’s ripe for the telling. It’s quite possible that Billy might doubt their relationship, while Sarah finds success with her crush on a coworker, causing both friends to help each other navigate through the aftermath.
The Christmas Cliffhanger Matlock Should End On
As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: In the thrilling turn of events, I’d find myself face-to-face with Howard (Beau Bridges), the suspected mastermind antagonist, recognizing my friend Edwin (Sam Anderson), who had been posing as a guy Madeline met after Billy set up an online dating profile in the “Claws” episode. This newcomer would be seamlessly brought into the mix without getting left out of the deception’s loop.
Concurrently, Senior would likely find himself seated at the festive table with his kin, and it’d be hard not to envision a moment when their paths would intersect – reminiscent of the flashback that depicted Madeline’s initial encounter with Olympia. As one plotline concludes, another often emerges to maintain our suspense. With Matlock taking a break after December 12th’s ominous fall finale titled “No, No Monsters,” these closing moments will undoubtedly keep us hooked until 2025.
Bringing Back The Meerkat For A Christmas Episode Was Also On My Wish List
Hey there! As a gamer, if we’re brainstorming ideas for a Christmas special on Matlock, it’s an exciting chance for Shae Banfield (Yael Grobglas) to make a comeback. Can you picture the witty banter about her discovering Santa’s secret, and the suspense of her possibly getting one step closer to revealing Matty’s hidden life? Honestly, I’ve been wanting Shae back since forever, and what better timing could there be?
With Matlock’s early Season 2 renewal, it’s crucial to prepare the stage for where the story might head next. If we want Shae to stay involved, why not make her a regular player in this game of illusion and misdirection? (In all honesty, can’t we have a tale about young Miss Banfield scolding her parents for trying to keep the Santa secret?)
To be honest, my wish for a special Matlock Christmas may not come true, and all this discussion might prove fruitless. On one side, I’d be delighted if I turned out to be wrong about it, allowing me to keep enjoying the unexpected escapades of Madeline Kingston even more. Given that the initial twist in Matlock has kept my week exciting with each new episode, the surprises I initially thought would grow old have instead become more entertaining.
However, I could potentially discard my application for the Matlock writers room if Jennie Snyder Urman doesn’t find my spec pitch appealing. But should she be impressed, it would make a difference. Regardless, Matlock returns on December 5th at 9 p.m. ET with “Belly of the Beast,” so we’ll soon discuss what actually transpires rather than speculate about possibilities.
To catch the show live, head over to CBS! But don’t worry if you miss it, you can stream this episode and all previous ones by getting a Paramount+ subscription. As for the iconic theme music slide whistle, let’s save that for our discussions on specific episodes instead.
