‘North of North’ Renewed for Second Season at Netflix

Netflix is heading back above the Arctic Circle for more North of North.

Working together with Canada’s CBC and APTN, the streamer has revived a comedy series that unfolds in a small town of Nunavut. The show, devised by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, follows Anna Lambe as she attempts to rebuild her life following a sudden and highly publicized divorce.

In this version, the streamer has collaborated with CBC and APTN to resurrect a comedy series that takes place in Nunavut’s small towns. The show was created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, and it tells the story of Anna Lambe, who is trying to move on with her life after an unexpected and very public divorce.

The re-airing of “North of North” happens within mere two weeks following its premiere on Netflix. In its initial fortnight, it landed a spot on Netflix’s worldwide top 10 list for English-speaking series.

When Alethea, Stacey, and Miranda de Pencier called me up about North of North getting another season, my heart burst with pure delight! I’m over the moon with excitement and brimming with joy – I can hardly contain myself, I’m so eager to return to Ice Cove!

The show titled “North of North” made its Netflix premiere on April 10, following its initial airing in January on CBC and APTN within Canada. Nearly every critic has praised this series; Angie Han from The Hollywood Reporter commented, “Although Ice Cove, Nunavut is situated in a real-life tundra, the warmth of affection for its characters and their hometown makes it as comfortable as a warm bath after a long day.

Additionally, Lambe shared with THR insights about the audience’s reaction to the show: “Viewers are seeking fresh content. They crave unique narratives, something that takes them by surprise. North of North offers a world unfamiliar to many – or at least presented in an unprecedented way, full of warmth and humor.

The show also features Maika Harper, Braeden Clarke, Jay Ryan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kelly William, Zorga Qaunaq, Bailey Poching, Nutaaq Doreen Simmonds, Keira Belle Cooper, and Tanya Tagaq, alongside Lambe.

I’m thrilled to be a fan, as Aglok MacDonald, Arnaquq-Bari, de Pencier, Anya Adams, Susan Coyne, and Garry Campbell are the exceptional executive producers behind this project.
