Nostalgic Hit Samurai Pizza Cats Will Return With a New Game Soon

It’s been three decades, but Samurai Pizza Cats is back, this time with a new video game.

Titled “Samurai Pizza Cats: A Return to the Past,” this 2D action RPG is slated for release in 2026 across all significant gaming platforms. The game is being developed by Blast Zero, a renowned Dutch studio recognized for their anime-inspired beat ’em up game, Jitsu Squad. However, Red Dunes Games will be responsible for its publication.

This reboot is being introduced during the 35th anniversary festivities of the initial anime series, which premiered in Japan as Kyatto Ninden Teyandee back in 1990. It gained popularity worldwide under the title Samurai Pizza Cats due to its thrilling plot, quirky humor, and memorable characters.

The series has consistently remained popular in contemporary culture, and the new game is poised to emulate that same energy for today’s fans. Remaining faithful to its original essence, the game enables you to command the three primary characters – Speedy Cerviche, Polly Esther, and Guido Anchovy. Each character stands ready to prevent Seymour “The Big” Cheese from causing havoc in Little Tokyo, with their individual skill sets at their disposal.

What stands out the most is the remarkable accuracy with which the original anime’s visual style has been preserved. The creators have skillfully designed a 2D art form that mirrors the traditional cel animation of the show, making it feel as if you’ve stepped directly into the series.

Right from the opening scenes in the trailer, it’s evident that the creators have put in extra effort to capture the spirit of Samurai Pizza Cats faithfully. To add a touch of nostalgia, Blast from the Past is reassembling the original voice actors for both the English and Japanese versions.

Currently, it appears that Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past is a devoted creation, originating from enthusiasts and intended for fellow enthusiasts.
