Nothing Unveils First Community-Designed Phone (2a)

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for unique and community-driven tech innovations, I must admit that the Nothing Phone (2a) and (2a) Plus have caught my eye. The British tech firm’s commitment to breaking boundaries and creating products that speak volumes is truly commendable.

Innovative tech company Nothing consistently pushes limits with self-explanatory products. Following the launch of their groundbreaking open-style wireless earbuds, Nothing introduces its initial community-designed phones – the Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus – created specifically for the community.

Under the Community Edition Project, we invited four global contest champions to creatively revamp a device initially sourced from Nothing’s online communities. Collaborating intimately with our engineering team, these gifted designers brought their vision to life by creating an entirely fresh design for the phone – from conception to completion.

As a passionate tech enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that this remarkable smartphone was collaboratively designed by Astrid Vanhuyse, Kenta Akasaki, Andrés Mateos, Ian Henry Simmonds, and Sonya Palma. This innovative device boasts captivating glow-in-the-dark characteristics, a unique “Phosphorescence” hardware, and the striking “Connected Collection” wallpaper design. The latter leverages AI and digital technology to produce six mesmerizing screensavers. What truly sets it apart is its eco-friendly green-tinted lighting, which allows for a subtle, battery-saving glow.

Have a good examination of the Nothing’s The Community Edition Project Phones (2a and 2a Plus) displayed in the gallery above. These versions are limited to only 1,000 units and will debut online on November 12 for around £399 GBP or approximately $520 USD.
