As a streetwear enthusiast with an affinity for both Oakley’s technical prowess and Brain Dead’s West Coast vibe, I can hardly contain my excitement about this FW24 drop from Oakley Factory Team! The Hairy Suede touch on the classic Flesh clog and Chop Saw sneaker is pure genius – it adds a rugged, yet refined feel that resonates with me as someone who’s spent more time in suede jackets than leather ones.
In their initial release for the FW24 collection, Oakley Factory Team – led by Kyle Ng and the Brain Dead crew – plans to unveil refreshed color options and innovative materials for the Flesh and Chop Saw designs, as well as introducing two unique eyewear styles.
Building on the collaboration between Oakley’s streamlined tech appeal and Brain Dead’s West Coast vibe, this collection introduces a “Hairy Suede” element to footwear designs. The beloved Flesh clog is now offered in a rich, deep brown suede, while the Chop Saw sneaker will debut in a tonal indigo suede. The updated Chop Saw features striking turquoise laces that pop against the dominant midnight blue-green tones on the uppers and soles.
Transitioning to eyewear, the Planet X Eye Jacket frames represent a fresh take on Oakley’s ’90s design that was revamped by collaborators last year. This time, instead of the Oakley logo on the bridge, there is a handwritten “Brain Dead” emblem. The Planet X includes iridescent violet lenses and a speckled black and blue frame. These speckled frames are also seen in the latest “Mumbo” style, characterized by the athletic wrap lenses that Oakley is known for.
Beyond its involvement with the Oakley Factory crew, Brain Dead has also been expanding its partnerships with adidas. On September 7, they unveiled fresh variations of their take on the Stan Smith design, incorporating a brushed suede finish as well.
Beginning September 17, the initial release from Oakley Factory Team’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection can be purchased at every Brain Dead store, both Oakley and Brain Dead online platforms, as well as selected Oakley outlets.
