As a long-time follower of minimalist design and a lover of all things ’00s, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming JJJJound x ASICS GT-2160 collaboration! With my extensive experience in scouring the internet for sneaker drops, I’ve been keeping an eye on this project since its initial teaser back in September. The sleek design, the subtle carbon fiber overlays, and the wide gauge mesh uppers are right up my alley.

Product Name: JJJJound in collaboration with ASICS GT-2160

News: The minimalist brand JJJJound concluded September by revealing its new partnership with ASICS, focusing on the GT-2160 model in two stylish color schemes. With the project’s launch just around the corner, they have officially announced it. Taking cues from ’00s runners, the designs incorporate white and black as well as black and pure silver, both featuring mesh and synthetic layering. The release date is set for October 31, with retailers like HBX expected to carry the collaboration in the ensuing weeks.

On a Monday morning, JJJJound revealed its forthcoming collaboration with ASICS, which marks nearly three years since their partnership launched an updated version of the GEL-Kayano 14s in 2022. An Instagram post titled “JJJJ ASICS FW24” showcases two fresh designs of the GT-2160 sneaker, presented in stylish chrome finishes and contrasting black-and-white color schemes.

Following the understated design philosophy of the Montreal studio for refining iterations, the standout details reveal themselves most intriguingly. Carbon fiber accents, subtly placed from heel to toe caps, lend a touch of luxury, while expansive mesh uppers across the pairs offer a richer tactile experience due to their wider gauge.

Option one features a predominantly titanium white upper with accents of silver and black on the overlays, complemented by neon word marks on the tongue cushion and heel.

Compared to the earlier GEL-Kayano 14 model that featured a retro design with thicker details and off-white soles, the JJJJound x ASICS GT-2160 has a more modern vibe. This is due to its streamlined shape accentuated by vertical lines integrated into the midsole. Lately, ASICS has been promoting this model through collaborations with brands like Above the Clouds, Carnival, and Kiko Kostadinov.

The brands haven’t disclosed all the details about the price and launch date of the GT-2160 sneaker by JJJJound, but the “FW24” tag suggests that it might be coming out this season. Keep an eye out for further release details from TopMob.
