On Thursday, it was announced that Olivia Munn will receive an honor at the Women’s Cancer Research Fund’s Annual Gala, known as “An Unforgettable Evening,” for her contributions to the advancement of breast cancer research.

Actress Munn, who is appearing in the latest Apple TV+ series titled “Your Friends & Neighbors,” will be honored with the Courage Award at an upcoming event on April 28, held at the Beverly Hilton. The evening will be emceed by Whitney Cummings and will include a musical performance by Little Big Town. Notable individuals such as Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, and Tom Ford will serve as honorary chairs for the event. Jamie Alexander Tisch, Quinn Ezralow, Laurie Feltheimer, and co-chairs Wallis Annenberg and Kris Levine, Kelly Chapman Meyer, NJ Falk, Judy and Leonard Lauder, William P. Lauder, Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne, Martin Short and Steve Tisch will also play significant roles in the event as gala chairs or co-chairs.

In April 2023, Munn was diagnosed with breast cancer in both breasts. She shared her health journey in March 2024, having endured five surgeries, including a lymph node removal, a double mastectomy, and a hysterectomy. The actress also highlighted the Tyrer-Cuzick Breast Cancer Risk Assessment test, developed by Dr. Jack Cuzick of the BCRF. This test delves deeply into family history. As a result of Munn’s advocacy, visits to the Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool site skyrocketed, according to the National Cancer Institute. The number of women taking this previously little-known test increased a staggering 4,000 times over.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my strong belief that no one else deserves our Courage Award more than Olivia Munn this year. A valiant cancer advocate and mother, Olivia has not only shown immense courage but also ignited crucial discussions about the necessity of regular cancer screenings with her inspiring story.

At our event, ‘An Unforgettable Evening’, we celebrate hope for those battling breast cancer while acknowledging the pressing need for further action. We recognize that there is still much work to be done, especially for courageous individuals like Olivia, who are currently undergoing treatment and eagerly awaiting a cure today.

At this event, where prominent figures from entertainment, cancer research, and corporate philanthropy unite to contribute to groundbreaking cancer research, past recipients have been the likes of Demi Moore, Sharon Stone, Kate Hudson, Gabrielle Union, Christina Applegate, Jennifer Hudson, Elton John, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Sofia Vergara.
