As a captivated viewer, I must say the climax of “The Traitors” was nothing short of exhilarating! The intricate web of deception, treachery, exile, and triumph experienced by some characters left me spellbound. In essence, it was an ending befitting its epic journey, leaving me yearning for more in the upcoming season.
Instead, the finale of The Traitors US Season 3 could’ve been more impactful with some tweaks. One possible adjustment is modifying the central twist of Season 3 slightly. This approach has proven effective in previous seasons, and I believe I understand why. Here are a few ideas on how it can be refined for future seasons.
Let us discuss.
heads up: Spoilers for The Traitors US Season 3 and The Traitors UK Series 3 lie ahead. Proceed at your own risk if you don’t want these plot details revealed.
The Seer Twist Ended In A Lackluster Way In Season 3
In the upcoming season, the Seer’s twist plays a significant role, offering a unique ability to the player who possesses this power: they will uncover the identity of another player. If the Faithfuls make the right choice, this knowledge can provide them with an advantage. Conversely, the Traitors might benefit from this revelation as well.
In the final episode of “The Traitors” Season 3, Britney Haynes secures the Seer power for herself. Since Britney is actually a Traitor, she’s aware that all other contestants are Faithful. She chooses Gabby Windey next, and Gabby reveals her true identity as a Faithful. The tension lies in whether Britney will present Gabby as a Faithful or a Traitor going forward.
Britney chose honesty and openly declared that Gabby is Loyal, hoping to gain Gabby’s trust and convince others that only Loyal members were left in the group. However, this revelation perplexed some of the finalists, leaving them uncertain about whether Britney was Loyal or Deceitful herself.
Dylan Efron grows more puzzled by the revelation that Gabby is Loyal, causing him to ponder if both Gabby and Britney could be Deceivers. In the end, this twist didn’t benefit Britney, who was exiled. On the other hand, it might have aided Gabby in remaining and earning some cash.
In summary, the unexpected twist with the Seer didn’t elevate the final scene’s tension. When Britney was revealed as the winner, the entire climax seemed to lose its steam.
It was clear that Britney wasn’t loyal and wouldn’t attempt to deceive others by framing someone else as disloyal. In my opinion, Danielle Reyes claimed the Seer power during the competition. However, when Danielle got banished, Britney ended up with it since she was the runner-up, according to my hypothesis.
Despite both Danielle and Britney being traitors, it’s possible that Danielle made better use of her position for entertainment value. She might have chosen Dylan or Dolores Catania instead, attempting to persuade them that she remained loyal, and together they could continue the game.
Moreover, there’s a chance that she realizes Dylan is unyielding to her cause. In such a scenario, she might attempt an unexpected move by portraying him as a betrayer. If Danielle had continued in the game and won the title of Seer, she could have brought something intriguing to the table, but ultimately, her power didn’t significantly impact “The Traitors” US version.

It Yields Exciting Results On The UK Version
In Season 3 of “The Traitors” UK (now streaming on Peacock and highly recommended), a character with the Seer power, who is known to be Faithful, mistakenly selects a Traitor. Prior to their selection, they were convinced that the individual was a Fellow Faithful. They wanted to verify this belief so they could bring an end to the game harmoniously.
As a movie enthusiast, I must say the dramatic unveiling left me on the edge of my seat! The following day, the tension skyrocketed as these characters seemed bent on undermining one another. The Traitor, in an attempt to discredit the Faithful, began spreading accusations that painted them as a liar and a traitor. This rollercoaster ride of events served to heighten my excitement, as it cleverly set up the Seer’s power for a thrilling plot twist.
I was thrilled to witness this unfold in the American adaptation, but unfortunately, it lacked the same level of intensity and fun compared to its original form. It seemed like a plot twist with great promise, yet it didn’t seem to function effectively within the U.S. version.

If These Things Happened On Traitors US, I Think The Twist Would Have Worked Better
In another possible situation, it’s discussed that either Danielle or Britney might obtain the Seer power. If that happens, they would find themselves in a shared space. This additional time could be utilized by them to strategize on how best to navigate the game, with the aim of making it through to the end together.
Despite the fact that the twist is effective when the winner is not a Traitor, if one of the Faithful had won, they probably would have chosen Britney since Danielle raised suspicion towards her after feeling betrayed.
If Faithful were to win the role of the Seer and pick Britney, we’d likely notice some friction. Moreover, there’s a chance Britney might sow enough confusion among the group that the final vote doesn’t result in an even distribution of the prize money. In the British version, the introduction of the Seer twist generates enough doubt to ensure an uneasy conclusion.
To ensure an engaging viewing experience, it’s crucial that the Seer game includes a sense of conflict. This tension is effectively created when a Loyal character emerges victorious, their mission being to expose a Deceiver among them. This unexpected twist adds intrigue and enhances the show’s appeal, making it more enticing for viewers to binge-watch.

The Seer Twist Could Work On Future Seasons But Needs A Few Changes
In my opinion, I believe the Seer power functioned effectively in the UK version due to the contestants who ultimately won and were chosen. In future iterations, I propose that this ability should be wielded by a Loyal participant. To add an intriguing twist, let’s modify it so that the Loyals are informed if a Traitor is still among them, without revealing the identity. This enhancement could potentially benefit the Loyals as they gain knowledge about the presence of a Traitor; however, if all Loyals remain unchanged, there is a possibility for deception.
A possible traitor might be introduced among the faithful to bolster their belief that no one is disloyal, potentially enabling them to eliminate others and claim a larger portion of the reward. The prophecy-holder’s assertion that all faithful remain adds an element of mystery to the situation.
This could lead others to believe they’re deceiving and possibly betrayers. A great deal of intrigue unfolds without disclosing the identity. If a betrayer obtains the Seer ability, they should be granted a unique advantage instead.
In a future game, to prevent someone who might be dishonest from using their power, if a Traitor were to win the Seer role, the power would automatically become invalidated without revealing the Traitor’s identity. Alan Cumming may announce that a Traitor has won, ensuring the power no longer functions (without disclosing the winner’s name). To make the selection process more clandestine in future games, the competition could be conducted in secret to keep the winner’s identity hidden. This would create an element of confusion as anyone could claim they won and potentially lie about their chosen target. For instance, if Britney were declared the winner but didn’t invite anyone, she might tell the group she had won and picked Gabby – all while knowing that her power would be invalidated if she was indeed a Traitor.
Subsequently, she might deceive by speaking freely, leaving Gabby perplexed and terrified at being entangled in a deceit. Moreover, should the information about a Loyalist’s or Deceiver’s identity be concealed, the Faithful have the option to keep it hidden until it is required.
Here are a few ideas, but I’m confident that the team behind “The Traitors” will come up with creative solutions to refine it.

I Think The Twist Is A Game Changer And Needs To Stay
In summary, I’m quite fond of the Seer mechanic, particularly as it was executed in the UK version. It holds a great deal of promise for adding depth and intrigue to the game. While it generally functions well, there are areas where adjustments could be made to guarantee that it consistently generates tension or enjoyment.
In the American adaptation, it seemed disappointing, yet having a glimpse of the UK’s outcome prior to viewing the U.S. version, I understood its potential when conditions were optimal. It’s essential that we ensure those conditions remain ideal every time.
