OPINION: Vicky Kaushal looks all set to rule period drama genre with upcoming films Chhaava and Mahavatar

As a lifestyle expert, let me express my thoughts on the latest posters released for Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming film, Chhaava, on January 20, 2025. His fresh portrayal has left me and countless others utterly captivated. In my view, with Chhaava and later Mahavatar, Vicky Kaushal is poised to conquer the period drama genre like no other. Here’s why I believe so!

Vicky Kaushal is widely recognized as one of the top actors in Bollywood today and happens to be among my personal favorites too. With each new movie he seems to raise the bar even higher, demonstrating his remarkable talent to audiences everywhere. He’s shown versatility across different genres – from gripping spy thrillers like Raazi, heartwarming romantic dramas like Manmarziyaan, all the way to comedies such as Bad Newz.

In some notable roles, Vicky has delivered exceptional performances in films like Sardar Udham and Sam Bahadur. Considering his past achievements, it’s plausible that he will deliver another stellar performance in Chhaava, where he embodies the character of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

2024 saw a tantalizing teaser that left me eagerly anticipating more. The actor’s portrayal of rage and anger, as well as his postures and expressions in the brief snippet from Laxman Utekar’s directorial work, was nothing short of impressive. Now, the latest posters of this historical drama have ignited my excitement even further with its earth, water, air, and fire theme. I can hardly wait for the trailer and the movie’s release to witness his scenes alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna.

An upcoming period drama movie titled Mahavatar, slated for release in 2026, features Vicky Kaushal in the lead role as Chiranjeevi Parashurama. Directed by Amar Kaushik, early glimpses of this film have already left an impact. In a single poster, Vicky managed to convey his character’s fiery temperament with striking intensity and power, making his gaze captivating.

One of Vicky’s forthcoming films is titled Love & War. Although the plot details are still under wraps, it marks Vicky’s first collaboration with acclaimed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, known for his work in historical films. I believe this experience will significantly enhance his future acting abilities.

It seems to me that Vicky’s distinctive physical attributes, adaptability, and captivating on-screen charm make him an ideal fit for period movies.
