The well-known generative AI firm responsible for the widely used Stable Diffusion image model, Stability AI, has brought on board visual effects maestro Robert Legato to serve as their main architect for pipeline design.
A three-time Academy Award recipient, Legato has been a frequent partner of director James Cameron and played a significant role in crafting the virtual camera methods utilized in the film ‘Avatar’. He won Oscars for his work on ‘Titanic’, ‘Huge’ and ‘The Jungle Book’.
With three Academy Awards under his belt, earned for his contributions to ‘Titanic’, ‘Huge’, and ‘The Jungle Book’, Legato has also worked closely with director James Cameron over many years. Together they developed the virtual cinematography techniques that were used in the production of ‘Avatar’.
Cameron is a board member of Stability AI, having joined the company a year ago.
On Wednesday, Prem Akkaraju, CEO of Stability, revealed that they have hired an expert in Visual Effects (VFX) to spearhead the creation of a system for utilizing their company’s tools within the VFX sector.
