Oscars: Academy Names Producers and Director of 97th Telecast

As a seasoned gamer with a deep appreciation for both movies and live events, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of the 97th Oscars telecast. The return of Raj Kapoor, Katy Mullan, Hamish Hamilton, and many other key players from the successful 96th Oscars is music to my ears. Their collective talent, creativity, and passion for cinema promise an unforgettable night for movie enthusiasts everywhere.

The main creative team responsible for the highly-acclaimed and Emmy-winning 96th Oscars broadcast, with the exception of its host, Jimmy Kimmel, and his personal producer and wife Molly McNearney, have been confirmed to return for the 97th Oscars ceremony. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences made this announcement on Monday.

On Sunday, March 2nd, 2025, ABC’s broadcast will feature the return of Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan as executive producers, with Raj Kapoor also taking on the role of showrunner. Hamish Hamilton will resume his position as director. This announcement was made by Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Janet Yang in a statement.

This will be Kapoor and Mullan’s second time and Hamilton’s fifth time in these positions.

A host for the 97th Oscars has yet to be announced.

Many members of the creative team who worked on the 96th Oscars will be returning for the 97th, including production designers Misty Buckley and Alana Billingsley (who received Emmys for their work at the 96th) as well as red carpet show executive producer David Chamberlin.

Music director Michael Bearden is joining the team for the first time.

It’s with great excitement that we share the news of our talented Oscars crew, Raj, Katy, Hamish, Misty, Alana, and Dave, coming back. We’re even more ecstatic to welcome Michael Bearden to our team. Their deep passion for cinema, shared creative ideas, and exceptional skills in live broadcasts make them an ideal group to craft a spectacular event for the world on the film industry’s grandest night.

Kapoor and Mullan expressed their excitement, stating, “It’s a pleasure to head up the exceptional Oscars production team once more. We look forward to collaborating with the Academy and Disney/ABC to craft an extraordinary television event that movie enthusiasts everywhere will remember. Our aim is to foster appreciation for filmmaking among new audiences and honor this year’s Oscar-nominated artists, whose talents we admire immensely.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the remarkable success of last year’s show is largely thanks to the brilliant minds of Raj, Katy, Hamish, and their teams. We can’t wait to welcome them back for another round, eagerly anticipating what magical moments await us in the 97th telecast.
