The “Own The Doge” DAO, which functions decentralized and autonomously, declared they’ve obtained the copyright for the Shiba Inu image – the basis for Ethereum‘s Shiba Inu altcoin and Dogecoin‘s logo.
In 2010, Kabosu, a Shiba Inu dog owned by Atsuko Sato, gained fame online after her photo was shared on the internet. This picture, which featured Kabosu with a puzzled expression, quickly became popular and turned into an internet meme named “Doge.” The success of “Doge” led to the creation and widespread use of Dogecoin, a unique cryptocurrency, with various sales of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) being recorded on various digital marketplaces.

John Monarch and Tridog, heads of “Own the Doge” initiative, announced reaching an agreement with Sato for obtaining the rights to their project’s title. This decision will put an end to copyright disputes and pave the way for collaborations with well-known brands.
The developers encourage the creation and sharing of Doge memes among users, fostering a unified community by not imposing restrictions.
